I've only just found this song, can see myself listening to it over and and over. Love the simple sound of the acoustic guitar, makes the lyrics stand out as the true stars of the song |

It's a break up song...like all relationships, there's a first kiss, and thats where it starts, always...with just a kiss. Now he asks how did it end up like this, comparing the exciting feeling of having a first kiss with someone you like, and then the bitter taste thats left when it all goes wrong. And, yea, she's moving on, in a very obvious way, and he's just not there yet, so he gets all those horrible fears and worries in his head, and he's doin his best to be "down" with that but it's really killing him watching her move on. It's the hook that makes it such a good song though...despite in the shitiest of places, he bites the bullet, "its just the price I pay" for falling for someone, but destiny is on his side, and he's gonna be positive about his future, he's eager to get on with life, and he knows that the ONLY way to get there it to focus on the brightside. Brilliant song!! That's my take it on it anyway...Lemme know what ya think!:) |

Nice, Always good to see a bit of JBOR appreciation BizzareAppu, I'll add this piece he wrote: Today Only from day to day the life of a wise man runs what matters if seasons far away have glooms or have double suns Like a tide our work should rise each later wave the best Today is king in disguise Today is the special test Like a sawyers work is life The present makes the flaw and the only field for strife is the inch before the saw John Boyle O' Reilly |

| Quality song, really captures that feeling of regret I have when I find myself in that place after a break up. It's just about really missing someone, after going seperate ways...one of the most natural things out there I guess. | |
| U2 – Van Diemen's Land Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| there is another, more traditional song also called "van diemens land",sung most notably by Ronnie Drew. This song as far as now was wrtten by The Edge about the Irish Poet John Boyle O'Reilly who was exiled to Australia. President JFK said he carried a book of JBOR's Poems on him where ever he went, check em out if you get a chance, the guy is far too anonymous and brilliant for someone held in such esteem by world leaders and rock stars alike!! | |

| Is there a better broken heart song??Hits the nail on the head. | |
| Billy Joel – She's Always A Woman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Wouldn't call it obvious misogny at all, really. He is singing about what happens when you become emphatuated with some one else. the reason its not misogyny is that you could arguably put "he" in in place of every "she". It's a wonderfully sad but true reflection of how someone can hold such devastaing control over you when you become so emphatuated by them. | |
