This is a great song that is based off of a relationship, and in the song he's talking to both people of the relationship. Here he is talking to the girl in the relationship. Grab your flag I know you’re sad I know you've got the butterflies They might stick for a little while Retribution Now it's time… for payback He's pretty much telling her to grab a flag and prepare to fight against her boyfriend/ex boyfriend. Even though she is upset and sad with the relationship, she can't just stay there and be the victim of whatever her ex/boyfriend is doing. Here, he's still talking to the girl. Can't stand the look upon his face He says one thing and does another Meet me another time, another place He'll do anything to run for cover Telling her that her boyfriend contradicts himself all the time. Actions speak louder than words and his actions are showing that he doesn't really care. he does everything to put the blame on the girl and take cover so he doesn't have to take the blame. He's talking to the girl again. Control is what you have I say you take it back You've been victimized And can't see eye to eye And I don't wanna see you crying over him I just want to see you hold it up to him Yeah! The girl usually has control over her relationships. She usually has herself composed and doesn't let people really get her down except her boyfriend gets her down. He makes her feel horrible and she becomes a victim and can't see the obvious. She cried over him and the singer of the song cares about her and doesn't want to see her cry, just to stand up to him and stand up for herself. And here he is talking about the boyfriend messing with a guy stronger than him and better than him. Now he's messed with that bad ass motherfucker And his chain wallet Wrap it ‘round his neck like a tourniquet Twist it ‘til the pain is gone, is gone pretty much the singer is just talking about the guy like everything is a story. The ex/boyfriend messed around with the wrong guy (singer) and the singer is making a confession of what he did. He's talking to the ex/boyfriend in this part. You better run for cover You better run for cover, cover It's time for Payback! (x 4) You believe me when I say, “I'll wrap it ‘round your head And make it look like suicide” Pretty obvious. The singer isn't afraid to stand up to the guy and will give the guy payback for what he did to the girl in the beginning of the song. Sorry if my comment is scattered all over the place. But that's what I get from the song. |

| Boy Kill Boy – Back Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |

For me, this song is more about a relationship than anything. "Close to madness So demanding, I can't breathe anymore I'll never be the same again" -- Pretty much it's a controlling relationship and he feels hovered. The person he is in a relationship with is so demanding that he just can't breathe and he feels trapped and so he has to watch what he does. He feels like he'll never be the same again or himself. "Please forgive me, and forget me 'Cause it's calling my name I'll never go back again, back again, back again, back again" -- Here he is just saying "forgive me, forget me, move on because I am and I'll never go back to you" "Can I find some more misery? If it can't be you, then it must be me, and" -- He's unhappy and he just wants misery because he does love that person and he wants to see them happy so he'll bend over backwards to make them happy. He's also blaming himself for the relationship issues. "Can i find some more for me? I'll never know, I'll never go back again, back again, back again" -- here he's kind of being sarcastic but also getting himself out of the relationship like "can i get any more misery? don't know because I'll never go back again". He's realizing the relationship is getting out of control and it's not equal. "Cold September, I remember Wishing I was away" September isn't always warm, it depends where you really are. So the guess of it being an oxymoron or contradicting because September is "warm" isn't entirely correct but it isn't incorrect either. But I take this as he does wish that he was away from this person because they were just cold and I guess "warm" (according to a previous post). Throwing him off because the person showed two completely different sides. "I'll never be the same again Please forgive me and forget me Cause it's calling my name, it's calling, it's calling it's calling, it's calling, it's calling" -- He'll never be the same (like before), and he just wants to be forgotten and forgiven. Something is calling his name, he's realizing this isn't how the relationship should be and he wants to get out of it. "Time to time it gets easier Time to time it gets easier again, again, again, again..." -- With the same mistakes going on over and over again, it's getting easier for him to just leave and realize the relationship isn't exactly what it once was and that he was caring for the person more than they really cared about him. Sorry if my interpretation on the lyrics have been confusing and scattered all over the place. It's a good song, but it being about drugs or a relationship.. I guess that's the band to fully know and to share it. |
