Badly Drawn Boy – Promises Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the song is about getting married and staying married and not getting divorced. When you get married, you make a promise or a vow to love each other forever. I don't think that it's about breaking up. I think that you sometimes you have to "walk away" from someone who is not right for you, but ultimately, you will find the one who you will promise to be with forever.

Badly Drawn Boy – The Time of Times Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the song is about getting past a mistake or a wrong relationship, "your head feels like your body and your mind is close behind." The "body" represents passion, and the "mind" represents reason. Like the previous guy, I think that the song is about "self-renewal." "The Time of Times" is implying that the future will be brighter now that the song's subject has learned from a mistake or whatever.

Radiohead – Reckoner Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's Yorke's application of Goethe's Faust to something in his life or lifetime. My understanding of Faust is that Christians shouldn't get too attached to the pleasures of this world because it can't be taken you to the other side ("can you take it with you"-Yorke). However, the character in the song wishes the woman ("the reckoner") well and hopes that he made her happy even though she's found someone else. Here is where his actions transcend, in a moral sense, just plain promiscuity. In other words, he displays an actual love for the woman. The separation or maybe the relationship is perhaps like a splash/wave in a water or a river, and the ripples are like nostalgia or echoes of the past excursion. However, although the relationship was lost, real love was not because of the man's outlook: "Did I cater to all you
All your needs?
"
