| I love the line 'Your carbon makes a star, and after all, that's all we are.' It is a scientific version of reincarnation. | |

The speaker is an archeologist talking about dinosaur fossils. Gonna make this crystal sing = Making a fossil tell a story. Could also be amber with something inside. Empty hands and tired eyes = searching for fossils usually leads to these. Giving up and giving in = frustration because of how difficult fossils are to find. Little arms on a big body = the fossil is the reward. And keep you safe inside of me = want to protect the fossil Oh, restore this crack so =want it to be perfect I keep this pillow it's such a poor substitute for a soul = fossils wrapped up in cotton and other protective material is not as good as a real dinosaur. When you hit the ground just roll Bend your knees bend your knees, bend your knees When you're lifting these = advice to archeologists The song is also a love song... the narrator has such a deep love and wants to protect another. It seems like a totally one sided love... It definitely is true love though. As silly as it may sound, this song gives me goosebumps. |

| I do not know if anyone noticed that the last lines, 'Because time can mean so much. Are you still mine?,' are a nod to Unchained Melody, a beautiful song. | |
| Lykke Li – Tonight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is missing a few key words: Falling deeper by the hour...don't let me fall deeper now. My interpretation of this song is the exact opposite of Leonard's. It is the protagonist of the song who is at fault. I think that the protagonist suffers from some sort of instability (bipolar disorder?) in her life and needs the person behind her to support her, to keep her up, to hold her life up. He was and will always be there, yesterday, the night before, tomorrow. But no matter how steadfast and loyal his love, she doubts that he will always be there, and asks him for that reassurance. She must dry her eyes because she cries from those worries, looking to the future, thinking that he will no longer be there, instead on being grateful on what he has done and on what he is doing. The high heels and high horses is the happiness of love, that keep her happy, ecstatic, enthralled, and the best person she can be... she is safe until the night... depression, doubts, fear. and so she falls deeper and deeper into an unstable life... she wants him to save her but at the same time she does not want him to save her. It is such an inner turmoil for her. Does she deserve him? Does he deserve better? Why does he love her? and so she asks him to let her go... without knowing that he will always love her. |
