This song is about becoming jaded to the world and life after becoming a meth addict. You only want to "move forward" with your addiction thats killing you, because "going straight will get you nowhere". The line, "there is no progress, evolution killed it all, I've found my place in nowhere", seems to me to be a philosophical thought about how once Darwin put forth his evoultion theory and the concept of God was coming undone the effect it had on us humans was not liberating but full of emptiness since having no afterlife or religion to believe makes wanting to "advance" in life and try your hardest seem like "whats the point?". I mean, all we do is work to make money and die, "countdown from 9 to 5 hooray we're gonna die blessed into our extinction. Meth sucks. |

| Its about the "epic" that is our lives...some of us try to feel the mystical pull from God/the other side (like The Door's sang about) in our lives because we can feel it, see it, hear it today...we want to grasp it and understand it completely because it feels so good, it's like walking on glass...we want it constantly, but we want it all, all the time, but we can't have it, its always starting us in the face in some way but we can't grab it....WHAT IS IT?!?...what is this reality, this life, this existence? | |

| EverythingisOne hit the nail on the head...if you have an understanding of spirituality and especially the religions of the east (hinduism, buddhism, etc.) then the song makes total sense...until I got into philosophy and pantheistic religions I always assumed the song was about drugs...then one day listening to it it hit me, the lyrics about "you don't see with ya eye, ya perceive with your mind" in particular...great song!!! | |
