I think this song is actually about interrogations rudolf hess went through when he landed on enemy grounds. Tests and facts are mantioned, and a lack of real communication between hess and english intelligence. I think that Ian(through Hess) is complaining how they kept Hess in jail beyond reason, but as a part of their anti nazi politics. As some kind of a souvenir really to remind them that they did right. "Just to live in the past tense to make believe you were right" I think that Ian is showing his sympathies towards Hess and Nazism in this song, and i think that's pretty childish. I must say i'm pretty disappointed by that, i see it as a sign of weekness. |

I think it's mostly about how there's every day someone who get muredered, and we don't even notice, it's just a usual every day thing, but to some people who care, like joe strummer & i, it isn't! |

Moon Child is the sign of Cancer. The Moon references the night.."night-birds". Moon themes.."silver wands", "sailing on the wind", "milk white gown", "playing hide and seek" (in the clouds). "Drifting in the echoes of the hours" is a reference the the 12 signs of the zodiac = 12 hours on the clock.
Some of the traditional Cancer traits are intuitive and imaginative, hence, her 'dreaming', 'sleeping', 'wands'. She's also a feminine water sign.."sleeping on a fountain" "Dancing in the shallows of a river". "...in the shadows of a willow" ..in Celtic lore, the willow is associated with the Moon, intuition and Beltaine. The Moon Child is waiting for a Sun Child.. the sunrise. |

I like the movie, but the story is set in Estonia not Yugoslavia. If they made this mistake on purpose, it's funny. Otherwise, it's ridiculous. |
