| Oh and I also thought he says "No thought was put into this, I always knew it'd come to this" in fact I'm SURE that's what he says... said... | |

| Man, this is possibly my favorite Nirvana song... Okay I have a bunch of favorites but this one rocks, it's got really good bass. And I always thought he said "things have never been so swell, I have never felt this well" anyway that's how I sang it when I karaoke'd it at a bar. Yeah I was drunk. I think I followed it up with "at a medium pace" | |

| I'm pretty sure Kurt didn't know what he was writing. I think he just through some shit together... well the chorus is obviously about being doped up on heroin, but the rest of it is just a bunch of words... in fact I think it's about being frustrated about not having anything to say. If you look at the paper where he wrote "smells like teen spirit" it has a bunch of equally weird lines that he crossed out. I think he was having trouble writing lyrics he was happy with, and got pissed off and just wrote a sarcastic exaggeration of how he saw a lot of the lines he had been writing. And probably how he was sick of writing songs about heroin. | |

Okay I read some of these comments, a lot of them are wrong. This one is totally obvious. It's a break-up song. And she's giving him the old "but I still want to be friends" line. That's why it's like a swear word to him. I don't know why women can't figure that one out, but it's like adding insult to injury. I can't think of how to dumb down "end is the only part I heard" any more. To him it's just ending, he doesn't exactly see it as gaining a friend. The other verse is completely obvious too. He's basically saying "I wish you would tell me you love me anyway, even if you don't" ... like he would rather be lied to than have to face the truth. Anyway. To those who had other ideas... the music gives it away. |

| Cake – Frank Sinatra Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Definitely about delapidation. I think it describes a single subject, but is about a general idea. The vaguely dark tone of the song also hints at this. The first 3 lines (ancient radiation) quite possibly refer to radio waves in one way or the other, as many have said already. However I think the radiation could be the ambience of a room inhabited by a depricated hermit-type; like the erieness of the home of someone who is no longer able to keep up with the world. The person whose life is reduced to collecting worthless crap, antiques and such. That ambience sort of haunts the room. The faintly glimmering radio station is the memories of this man, who was in his prime when frank sinatra was popular. These faint memories are all he has left, and continously play in his head. The next 3 lines describe a run-down environment. The skipping record is a common theme found in movies, and usually indicates someone is dead. Perhaps in this case, dead inside. The next 3 lines ("beyond the suns...") refer to the location of the reality this man lives in: outside of the mainstream world. And then the final four lines, which confirm what the previous lines were leading up to: it is, in fact, about delapidation, inability to be part of society, perhaps even senility. Also, in the last minute of the song (during the musical part) you can hear screaming in the background. It's a sad song. |
