I actually don't think this has anything to do with breaking up or a difficult relationship. I think it is about a guy who is happy with a girl who is a friend. He finds some sort of comfort in her that he didn't find in girls before her "tell me where did I go wrong before you?" and he can be his truest self with her. They share a comfortable and close relationship that is held by a bond that probably won't be broken. :) Five Times August is great, and this song is one of my favorites. The acoustic version is especially great. |

| I love love love love love this song. "Winter was our killer" that is amazing. I have broken up a few relationships in the colder months of a year when you would expect to have someone to be with to keep you warm... I just love this song and it definitely is one of MCS's best songs. | |

Oh my gosh, wait, I just realized that Q is for question and the single A is for answer, so I guess Q is the questions Cartel is being asked, and A is their answer to whoever is asking the question... I don't know, I kind of feel like A is how they're answering to all the critics who doubted them before they became a band so they chose to merge all of their songs in A to show the critics just who they are. :) Go Cartel go! |

I agree with thrwmyhrtaway "And if you're not getting answers ask better questions." That's a pretty profound lyric, really. Sometimes it's not that people don't want to answer our questions, maybe we're not asking the questions clearly enough that they understand how to answer them... wow... I love that line. |

I don't think he's referring to the devil here, I believe he's referring to himself being a fiend to her so probably closer to definition #5 instead of being an opium fiend, he's a fiend for this girl's love or lack of. He's wanting her to come back, and he says "I needed you, I know you needed me." So he wonders why she keeps walking away from him when it's obvious they both need each other. She spends a lot of time on his mind, and he can't seem to escape her although he probably wishes he could. |

He is killed by the fact that I choose silence with him than to talk and hurt when he brings up our past because it makes me get feelings again.... This kind of reminds me of my last relationship. We went around and around (long distance) and had our own relationships in the places where we live and towards the end he started trying to deny that I even existed which his friends would tell him he was wrong for doing because they knew he loved me... Anyways, he's engaged to be married in Aug we just had a huge fight (me/him and me/his fiancee) a week ago and of course he acted like he never had feelings although he just told me he still cared and needed me around 'just in case he was having problems with her' which I definitely said I could not do. Now it's nothing. 4 years and it's nothing. It's creaping up again. (It's all to be considered.) (It's a game and you're not the winner) It's a haunting memory. Cause all you can't deny is all held inside And when we go, We say goodbye and then we run, We run away. I feel like sooner or later he will come to terms with what he did, and I won't be around to comfort him this time. I don't know, this song just reminds me of it. I'm always analyzing everything, and thinking if I could say it, this is how I would say it, but yet I never get around to saying it. All he is trying to say is, just say what you need to say, you don't have forever so if you feel it in your heart, find a way to voice it because you don't know when the moment may pass you by. |

This is about a couple who has probably already been in a relationship, and broke up, and now they're back together but it's slowly crashing all around them. This time it's for real, no more "false alarms" as they've built before. I think that the room they're in hypothetically speaking is a representation of their relationship, and now it's truly burning. It's hard to save something from a fire, even if you want to. They should have learned the first time, like he says at the end "don't you think we oughta know by now?" They've been through this before, and this time there's just no salvaging the relationship even if she is "the only light" he ever saw. He's bitter about the end of their relationship, but he's also frustrated. I love this song. I just love John Mayer. I'm going to see him in August, I can not wait. He is truly one of the most amazing lyricists/vocalists out there today. Hands down, JCM is the man!! |
