so Basically i think that isaac is a genius in this song i think he purposefully sent the message that ya they got poppy but he cut me a break for this song because there is an obvious reference to PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES and at the same time the optimistic when things get bad look at the good brilliant |

764 mouser i think hit the spot even though Isaac said that he wants his lyric meaning to not be told he wants people to take from them what they want so its pointless to tell people what they mean and its more like sharing your perception on the song |

ok i have to get in on this one Isaac doesnt care the slightest bit about global warming the album even has lines in it saying that its not worth caring about this song is really good its got two basic themes 1. no matter how civilized we are we all have the same drives that we will submit to (already stated above) 2. we work our whole fucking lives away and for nothing because we all end up the same in the end ---example lines for this--- "It didn't seem we'd lived enough To even get to die" "All these dense distractions So beautifully complex Well, I loved life's surprises so much I don't want to know what's ahead" and i think stubborn beauty meaning that even though we know we will all end up the same we still dress up and work |

well it makes sense if you dont see it as a conversation at all its him talking to his wife because she is leaving him the beging of the song is them when they are already split up "You'll raise the daughter and she'll raise the son.(split custody of the kids) You'll live like two people that wish they were one.( two people that wish they were still together) She may not be perfect, but oh my friend neither are you." "You feel like you're waiting for somebody, to remind you of all the things, that you're supposed to do. Careful what you reach for, one more step and you're falling through." (speaking to himself -- the things hes supposed to do meaning to make things right with his wife) "Your family's a joke and your job is your life. The time spent without them, is time spent most every night. Get your house in order, 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride." (once again to himself--showing that they are splitting because he works to much and doesnt spend time with his family) "I work my hands right down to the bone, still you don't give me what I want. You are so ungrateful, we're more like a house than a home. Please dear understand, I'm sorry again for all that I said. How could you leave? I swear that I'll be a better man. Well, go ahead and run, run, run, from the man with the gun in his hand. Darling I would shoot you before I would ever let you leave. Oh, dear God." (simply what he is saying to his wife as she leaves) saying that he works hard for the family and shes ungrateful begging her not to leave and that if she stays he will be a better man and then it explains the self conflict when he is killing her "In a certain place I've kept my outs, one for us both, two for my doubts, I'm shaking. I'm hollow because I know how to get this done so I will be the only to follow, to follow through with this." and the last lines are him comforting his daughter because her mother is dead |

well emery lyrics is what i do... first off this entire album is about regret and forgiveness that helps alot when you think of this song it could be a conversation with himself but i read it differently "This is a waking up....I cant believe your a part of this world, a sisck sad man from the start" hes just done something horrible that he regrets and he doesnt feel like he deserves to be apart of this world when he speaks as "you" its a friend trying to help him "your not even worth my time." for example then he goes on to say he cant be stopped and his friend will try but fail and he will go all the way...makes sense so far right? now to the hard part.... when he talks about his drive throuugh illinois he switches perspective like him he meets a man who needs help and in his hypocrisy he drives off and says "i guess u just dont have faith" then he realizes his mistake and tells himself "It's the way It's the way you want it Everything Everything in it's place" and tells himself "I guess you don't have faith." and then he switches to the conversation with his friend for the last few lines.... could be wrong but what do u think? |
