i totally love this song my best friend was dating this girl and he was really down cuz he thought she didn't like him and i was so used to hearing her go on and on "ben this ben that, this reminds me of ben" but i couldnt explain it to him so i showed him this song and it totally cheered him up. there not together anymore but this song is still important to us both and it's one of the sweetest songs ever because 'in her eyes' any man can be a hero |

i totally have to agree with that, i've loved this song since i was a kid but i never really understood what it meant it wasn't even till a few years ago that i realize it had to have a really bad meaning hence the 'life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone' i took it as even after the fun is over and everything sucks u cant do anything u still have to live ur life, but now that u explain it that way i totally see the pregnacy thing, love this song, but it is really sad |

First lets just say this is an amazing song (no suprise it is jack johnson!!!) but i as for what i think this song means
I think taylor MIGHT be a street worker, but i kinda think maybe it's just she's made alot of mistakes and so she's at a hard time in her life and has to work illigely.
Same with peter, i may be looking at this too metaphorically but the whole pitter patters on the window makes me think of rain and so Suny could be like a metaphore of the good thinks. like he screwed up and he sees the life he COULD have had and he wants it but no one will axcept him for what he's done. so he's doing all this bad stuff during the week and going to church on sunday trying to act like he's this good guy but everyone knows what he did/does on saturday so they kinda shun him and taylor isn't really with this man it's kinda metaphoric too like she'll do whatever it takes to make the money acting like no one can hurt her but it's really killing her. and like peter she see's that better world and she want's it so she's doing what she can to get there. idk i overthink things sometimes |
