Like many others, I relate to this song from personal experience. Detail for detail this song is pretty much the story of my life. There was a girl when I was 17, we spent a lot of time restraining our screams, and we were caught fooling around once. After breaking up and re-united at 21, she said some pretty harsh things to me, and I had a military life (not fun) dragging me away at the same time. Despite where that brought me, I wish we'd just jumped in a car and taken off instead. Now she's married and I've had nothing but a string of meaningless relationships since. To top it off, I can still feel a fire inside for her and I'll probably be seeing her at my upcoming high school reunion. Maybe I can tell her to go listen to this song. |

HU confuses me. They've been talking about loving the life and that they're for real since they first started... Then along comes The Diary. Assuming this song is autobiographical, this song makes the life sound like a big miserable lie that the don't want to participate in anymore... Mixed messages. Still very powerful, I just wish they would get the message straight. |
