Does anyone else see the double meaning here or is it just me? There's obviously rock superstar in the sense of someone becoming famous in the music world but there also seems to be the suggestion of a rock superstar as someone finding fame and fortune through selling (crack) rocks. It seems the song draws on both of these to compare the grind to get famous through rock music to the grind of getting "famous" and rich through selling rock. Especially in regards to lyrics like: "But you don't know about the blood, sweat, and tears and Losin' some of your peers." and "First they get played like all damn day, Long as you sell everything will be ok" seems to be comparing how street level dealers are played by their employers, as are musicians by their labels and all that matters in either profession is moving product. Though I'm probably reading too much into this. |

And Albini had gone out of town for a while, and Britt was watching his house, and one night he just got plowed and lost the keys to the house, so he broke down the door--taking part of the doorframe with it. So instead of repairing it, he just nailed it up with a bunch of 2x4s. And he broke a toilet, and it was literally raining piss water in the basement, where there was mucial equipment and drums set up, and just splashing piss water over the drums and shit. |
