I don't think it's specifically about pedophilia but you could easily interpret it that way. It's a common trope in pop songs to refer to some idealistically desired one as precious and innocent. Do people assume Axl Rose singing "Sweet Child O Mine" or Bruce Springsteen singing "Hey little girl is your daddy home..." are singing to 8-year olds? Or is this just a form of bigotry assuming that a gay man using the same words could only actually be singing to an underage boy? |
