I don't quite see what it has to do with religion either. This version I can see it a little bit, but honestly I see both songs as having to choose between a lover and an addiction. In the original they choose the addiction and in this they choose the lover. |

I always interpretted it as someone who's caught inbetween their love of someone an addiction. They already know they'll chose the addiction that's killing them so the relationship of the two people is "Already Over" |
