This is definitely about people that don't really have faith or try to find faith, but go through the motions of religion anyway. Like all the Bible thumpers that blast homosexuality and are caught the next day trying to get oral sex in a bathroom somewhere. It means that if you don't truly believe in God, everything you do is a waste. |

| SR-71 – My World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the "Fastest man in the world, Fast asleep at the wheel" is refering to a guy trying to kill himself in the car... If you run a hose from the tailpipe to the inside and run it you'll fall asleep and die... | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's in the air you breathe and it's also in the water, It's something you can't see, you've been warned of by your mothers. I picture gang activity, nobody sees them in the act, but their mothers warn them. You've had enough deceit, You know enough to see. Join the others When you could hardly breathe, you were wondering why you bothered They got into the gang but they want out. And they gave us seven days to renounce our wicked ways Too late to make amends because we both know how this ends The police caught them and knew they were gang members and wanted them to wear wire or something, but they knew they'd be found out So do the right thing or do nothing (What will you do when they come for you?) Or just do what is easier (What will you do when they come for you?) Like I said before, the police have them cornered, if they refuse they'll go to jail but if they do it they'll be found out by the gang. That is what I read what I swear they said to me! Nine times out of ten they lied to me, And after all they had the gall to say, "Son, no one will save you now" The police are having them talk and the police know they're in trouble if the gang finds out. We want it, they got it! They claim we'll die without it, But something tells me they are wrong. The police are offering protection, knowing the guys are in trouble with the gang, but the police plan to arrest them. So what will you do when they call your name, and you're not ready to go? Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know. 'That you're in too deep and you can't quite keep your secrets, one and all.' We might just make it after all, on our own (We might just make it after all) But we had one foot on the gas and one foot in the grave Everyone was laughing when we said we had it made (x2) Either the police or the gang are calling them up, the gang because they suspect them, the police to interview. Started with six or seven, moved on to eight or nine, (What will you do when they come for you?) They were given a set amount of time, but then they were given more time Nobody seemed to notice, nobody seemed to mind, (What will you do when they come for you?) Little miss dismissed can't miss like a detuned radio I cannot believe you when you tell me what you know And nothing will be broken if your house is made of stone But you will know as I do it will never be a home The high ups in the gang are questioning them and "accidently" giving them info So what will you do when they call your name, and you're not ready to go? Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know. 'That you're in too deep and you can't quite keep your secrets, one and all.' We might just make it after all, on our own -We might just make it after all. But we had one foot on the gas and one foot in the grave Everyone was laughing when we said we had it made This time they plan to run away from the police and gangs and start over. Yeah, everyone was laughing when we said we had it made... Nobody thought they had a chance of running but they made it. |
