I think it shows kind of a message like... Science is trying to find all of these ways the world will end. Making our end come sooner and sooner. And it's making us destroy ourselves. And as there are now so many reasons to make us believe that there is nothing after we die it makes us fear our innevitable demise. Or something of the like. I love this song. |

| This song kinda reminds me of her career. "I don't want to be a legend. Oh, well that's a God damned lie I do. To say I do this for the people I admit is hardly true." That makes me think she doesn't do music for the people. And she does want to be a legend. "Twenty years sinking slowly." Maybe that means she's been sinking slowly into being in a suicidal state. | |

To me this song has a meaning that she wakes up at 4 o'clock and can never go back to sleep. "I close my eyes and pray for the garish light of day. Like a frightened child I run from the sleep that never comes." I think that would be that she wants ay to come and she doesn't want to sleep because of the horrible things she sees in the dark. |

With "The easy way out or the easy way in" That makes me think is suicide really an easy way out. Because some beliefs state that if you kill yourself you are forever bound to the earth. An easy way out of living or an easy way to live forever? "What she doesn't know is how long it takes for the water to rise." Maybe she never realized that drowning takes a looong time until she actually tried it. "If it was a game then why couldn't I play?" I would think she means life is a game and she was never allowed to play it. But I'm not sure, that's just what I get out of it. This whole song is very deep. I love it. |
