| Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Sized Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"I don't think this one is too complicated. It's about somebody who always expected to have somebody else with them in their "bed". I doubt it's literal, but that's irrelevant anyway. This person simply realizes that they have been having false hopes about having somebody, and are depressed or possibly slightly accepting of the fact that they are to remain alone as they have all these years or that they are giving up trying to find somebody to share their bed with, so they are getting rid of the unneeded space. Just my take. -Brian" Exactly my thoughts Brian. Explained it perfectly |

Yeep, like it has been said already, this song was written about the wildfires in Southern California this past year. The part of the song that goes "Bought some wine and some paper cups" reminds me of the song - "Champagne From A Paper Cup" |

| Death Cab for Cutie – No Sunlight Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Like everyone else has been saying, the tempo, tone, and just overall how to the song comes across as upbeat deceives the listener. "When I was young lying in the grass, I felt so safe in a warming bath Of sunlight, of sunlight. Vast open sky could do no harm. Like an embrace from mother's arms. In sunlight, in sunlight. In sunlight, in sunlight." The first two stanzas describes how he was young and innocent and everything is going perfectly. Like a child is, hence the words in a mother's arms, think back when you were crying and all it took to make you feel better was a hug from your mom. "With every year that came to pass. More clouds appeared till the sky went black. And there was no sunlight, no sunlight. And there was no sunlight, no sunlight. Anymore... It disappeared at the same speed as the idealistic things I believed. The optimist died inside of me." In the third and fourth stanzas think of it as the person being described is growing up and he is realizing and finally seeing all the bad in the world. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is a love letter to the girl. The similes and metaphors embedded in the song like the potential of the women whom he loves is like a "book elegantly bound, but in a language that you can't read, just yet" are there as if he is trying to explain this all the a girl whom he deeply longs for. "There are days when outside your window I see my reflection as I slowly pass And I long for this mirrored perspective When we'll be lovers, lovers at last" In this stanza Ben is describing how he longs and wishes that his love for her will be "mirrored" back to him or be reciprocal. The rest of the song is self explanatory |
