Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 17 years ago
Holy gucking christ how many idiots have written comments to this song. A lot of bright people too so don't take offence all of you just yet.

The idiots I'm primarily talking about are:
1. The jackasses claiming that non-conformism is hypocritical. Non-conformism isn't the opposite of conformism you tools, non-conformism IS THE ABSENCE ON CONFORMISM. To your defence you're all probably ignorant fucks so I guess I shouldn't expect much more from you.

2. The people who think this song is about Bill Hicks. Tool liked Bill Hicks. With this in mind, go read the lyrics again and tell me if you think they're really singing about a person they like. Yeah, I didn't think so.

To the rest of you, thanks for the great thoughts and comments!

Rage Against the Machine – Maggie's Farm (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Hey nice theory Pretentious arse, I was actually about to write pretty much exactly the same, yet with one difference.

To me the Pa more seems to me to represent the Government. The line "The National Guard stands around his door" is the reference to the military, that of course protects the governments interests.
"His bedroom window
It is made out of bricks" seems likely to be a reference on how little control the people actually have over the government. We believe that there's a window and that we can keep an eye out for what they're doing, but really it's made out of bricks and we can't shit of what's really going on inside "the bedroom".

So that would mean:
Maggie is western society
Her brother is the corporations and the bosses
Her father is the almighty government
and her mother is, as was said, religion

Rage Against the Machine – Roll Right Lyrics 17 years ago
from wikipedia on roll calls: "The term applies to the calling itself, to the time moment of this procedure, and to a military signal that announces it (e.g. by a drum)."

The cell dors crash
And the master's drums echo
Roll right
Roll call

I guess this'd go well with the previous speculations of the song being about warmongering etc.

Also, mentioning cell doors and roll calls, is likely a prison reference. Perhaps not an actual prison, but at least a symbolical such.

"Main line adrenaline Gaza to Tienanmen"

probably refers especially to people standing up against oppression. I mean tiananmen square is the place of one of the most famous acts of civil disobedience in modern history, with the anonymous man stepping up infront of a rolling tank.

Rage Against the Machine – Year of tha Boomerang Lyrics 17 years ago
Nice one Tbabystillz. I didn't know about Fanon but I was just about to suggest the same theory before I read your and other's replies about Fanon.

also: "So I'm goin' out heavy sorta like mount tai"

According to an ancient quotation from Sima Qian, "Though death befalls all men alike, it may be weightier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather." Mao Zedong referenced this quote in the 20th century: "To die for the people is weightier than Mount Tai, but to work for the fascists and die for the exploiters and oppressors is lighter than a feather". This is clearly what the Rage line refers to.

"The Chinese idiom Mount Tai is an epithet for a person of great distinction"

More random notes:

"Pair of mirrors" - dunno what it means exactly but imagine placing two mirrors opposite of eachother and you know how you get one of those infinite reflections. Eternity etc.

"Left channel - 26 years in this stage" - As I mentioned above the 26 years is clearly a reference to Zacks age when the song was written. Left channel: "may refer to one of a pair of Channels in a Stereo configuration, which is generally used for music. It may also refer to a channel meant to be positioned to the left of the screen in a Surround Sound configuration."
So it's a channel in used for music while being representative of the bands leftist ideologies. Relevant? that's up to you I guess.

(Left channel - 26 years in this stage)
(you're 26 years in this stage)

The song was written in 96 when Zack was 26 years old. Just thought I'd point that out if it can be of help to anyone.
