| Funeral for a Friend – Damned If You Do, Dead If You Don't Lyrics

Matt stated in one of the recent interviews that his lyrics for this EP deal with the ignorance of today's world and how as human beings, we have taken for granted the things we've been given. Instead, we've become obsessed with war and death, finding our happiness in material things. However, for this song, it seems as though he has some hope for mankind as he croons, " So sing it loud, I'm not giving up on you or anyone I know."

The questioning of God's existence seems like a theme that reiterates throughout this album. The chorus shows his unsureness on whether basing your life around something/someone that may not exist isn't the way to go. The reference to 'score cards' may be a way of portraying His judgment of us.
The last line "It took so long to wait until the end" pretty much seals the deal in how no one ever truly will know if He exists until they die.
Great song and great album. Matt has such a way with words and his ability to write deeper, more existential lyrics show how talented these guys are. |

Very awesome song. I guess apparently the title originates from a facebook group of the same name. Knowing Rivers, he's just being incredibly ironic. Since all of his fans put him on such a pedestal (when they shouldn't), this is his way of saying that he's just going to be himself and doesn't really care what anyone thinks.
By the way, this album is incredible. I know people are saying it's not going to top blue and pink, but I think over time all three will go hand in hand... I also think this is the last weezer album. |

She uses the metaphor of the high and impending crash of being on a drug to getting her hopes smashed by someone who doesn't care about her as much as she does him... |
