I can't be the only who sees that this probably has nothing to do with burglary. To me, it sounds like betrayal in a relationship. I doubt any self respecting artist would choose "stabbed in the heart" to imply a literal stabbing. "I grabbed the kitchen knife Couldn't stick it in No, Creeper had his own Shining in the moonlight" Sounds like his defenses were up, but they didn't suffice... perhaps this means that the scenario left him so distraught that he was left listless.
