| Wavves – Linus Spacehead Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| LOL. Not all that complex. Think drugs | |
| Neon Indian – Suns Irrupt Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| omg! This song is unreal. | |
| Avey Tare – Ghost Of Books Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Probably my favorite on the album, even though it is terribly sad. My interpretation is this song is about his split with his wife (obviously). More specifically it seems like he is being extremely hard on himself. Saying he was in his sort of imaginary world where he thought things would be OK with her, despite being so different. "I'm so tired of disappearing You're so beautiful You can't hear me Want to hold you Kiss you Feel me Climb through the void and eternally cheer me" My take from this is that Avey is depressed or something of the sort. Sounds like he is disappearing from the relationship despite loving his wife. Second half of the lyrics are easy. He wants to be with her, for her to magically cheer him up. I have a lot more interpretation, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone else. PS. Sounds like he is repeating "tape myself in her/my mind" at the first of the song to me. Most of the lyrics are wrong, but it's a pretty good outline. |

| Hot Chip – I Feel Better Lyrics | 15 years ago |

And I just found this video/article. So ya... Song is definitely about a psychedelic drug trip. http://www.prefixmag.com/news/hot-chip-discuss-made-in-the-dark-track-track/17153/ |

| Hot Chip – I Feel Better Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I am the only one getting a very strong psychedelic drug reference for this song? Every lyric in the entire song is VERY common thought processes when under the effects of LSD or Mushrooms with a significant other... | |
| Kid Cudi – Solo Dolo (Nightmare) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Don't think smoking to tripping is the subject of this song. Think it's about losing his dad and his world turning upside down. | |
| Kid Cudi – Simple As... Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Yes, Scott is Kid Cudi's name. Song is about being a kid. "Simple as" being young...no worries =) | |
| Kid Cudi – Follow Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Wow no comments? One of his best songs I think. One of the few rappers who talks about himself in a somewhat degrading way as opposed to the ultra pretentious idiots that dominate music. Probably about his problems, sadness in life concerning his father. Great, great stuff. |

| Alkaline Trio – Dead On The Floor Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Well the fact of the matter is both our hearts shattered "way to goddamn easily" | |
| The Gaslight Anthem – Wherefore Art Thou, Elvis? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Crazy good song, might be my favorite gaslight song, which is saying a LOT. Anyone know what the line means?: "Walking in my old man shoes, with my scientist heart. I got a fever and a beaker and a shot in the dark." |

| Thrice – In Exile Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Little confused as to how anyone would think this song is about heaven. Thats quite the reach IMO. Seems much more like a on the road type of song or just a semi-story of someone stuck somewhere they don't want to be. If there is more symbolism in this song than the obvious, it's not apparent or artistic in the least. |

| The Gaslight Anthem – The '59 Sound Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
From Rolling stone: The band is blue collar at its core, with Fallon even developing a hobby of building homemade amplifiers – The '59 Sound refers to one of Fallon's custom jobs. "We're sensible Jersey boys," Fallon says. "Why blow money on a tour bus when you could get your mom a nice dress?" |

| Sublime – April 29, 1992 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song couldn't be anymore obvious. It's about the oppressed, the poor. He is saying the riots weren't about race, they were about the poor communities standing up to the oppressors. He goes off naming cities, basically telling people to stand up! Make their voices heard! Awesome civil rights song. | |
| Third Eye Blind – Another Life Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| And Doldrums nailed it also. Pretty much the perfect outline in his explanation. | |
| Third Eye Blind – Another Life Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Pretty positive what this song is about. OSUBuckeye got the meaning. The song is basically about second chances, or "another life." Most likely Stephen wrote it after a big breakup, when he felt like he would never get another person like he had. Everyone has had that feeling that your life will never really be the same or as good again, but in reality, everything will turn out better eventually and you will get a chance at another life. In a way this song relates to a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche: "Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer." Armor Fati is the love of fate. Anything bad that happens MUST be partially good. Anyways, a really clever, well written song. Certainly not about "drugs" or "finding god." |

| Third Eye Blind – Self Righteous Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I am pretty positive codiee nailed it. More specifically, it sounds like a couple in a relationship, where they might be moving fast (Pre-marital sex, moving in, ect) and they basically are just being judged. "What's ours is ours And were all alone What's ours is ours And outside rain It's just a shower And then I feel you breathe And I let go of the hours And I feel your skin And I let you in And that's my dream Again and again I feel the hours Sliding by Get up on your own now Way up all alone now Lift your head again and try this " They are in love, in their own little world. Everyone outside is telling them they are wrong, and should have better "morals". They don't need a god, just each other, because they know they are doing nothing wrong. The last few lines make it sound like they are trying to get god/religion out of their lives. |

| Circa Survive – 1,000 Witnesses Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I am sorry, but anyone that believes this song isn't about god is borderline retarded. It is beyond obvious, this song and the rest of the CD. | |
| Bayside – Roshambo (Rock, Paper, Scissors) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| About Beatz...are you joking? | |
| Circa Survive – In the Morning and Amazing... Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Half human, Half machine = God. Pretty obvious =p Song is about looking for signs from a God and never receiving. The entire CD is about "letting go" of religion. EVERY, single song. | |
| Alkaline Trio – San Francisco Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Umm..ok...I am not sure how anyone could get from the lyrics that he is sad he is leaving Chicago. It's obviously not a homesick song, if you say different...well sorry, but you're an idiot. He went to San Francisco, fell in love with it but sadly has to return to his sour home Chicago. It's not complicated, I guess there are just a lot of people from CHicago on here. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this is there one and only song that has anything to do with drugs, despite what at least one poster says on EVERY single one of their songs. Sounds like a friend of his has a drug problem, and thoughts of suicide. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Mercy Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this song is about him devoting himself to a girl, and eventually for whatever reasons, they break up. "I used to long for a time alone I used to long for a place of my own" is him saying that he always wanted to be alone, but now that he is all alone it's not what he thought it would be. "Drive yourself insane tonight It's not that far away. And I just filled up your tank earlier today" I would say is about him calling the girl or whatever it is, just to make her miss him. He wants her to drive herself crazy over what she lost. Basically he is lost as sea after one lifestyle for so long and the song is about wanting to go or going back home, running away from his many problems. |

| Alkaline Trio – In Vein Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ya, those whoahs are kind of pissing me off. I am trying to be accepting as I can...loved crimson, not as much as from here to the infirmary, but still. Pretty much, everyone thing AT has put out, I have spent a month straight listening to it....and had a blast doing so. But this, I just don't know... | |
| Circa Survive – Your Friends Are Gone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
iamlegend05 said it best. This entire CD is about LETTING GO of God. Every single song...so quit saying it's about relationships or whatever. Come on...it's pretty obvious... This song is summed up very nicely by a Nietzsche quote: "The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." |
|
| Alkaline Trio – Steamer Trunk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "But my long term memory is far from dead", thought that meant be happy for what you have instead of dwelling on what has been taken(short term). | |
| Alkaline Trio – Steamer Trunk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Pretty much I think this is about what everyone says. A girl that can't let go of what happened to her and he can't take it anymore. But I like the ending the most, "Why I turned out the way I did Someone somewhere dropped me on my cranium I'm sorry can you repeat what you just said My short term memory is gone But my long term's far from dead" I think he is saying is that everyone has things they need to let go. |

| Alkaline Trio – Private Eye Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Also, Hypoxide said it perfectly. "this is quite obviously about a man who is very insecure in his relationship. no trust. looking for his partner to slip up. every line seems to be threatening the partner to make a mistake, lie, leave some evidence, he'll find it." |
|
| Alkaline Trio – Private Eye Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
scrtninja1221 said it perfectly. I am almost positive this song is about being in love with someone but always thinking they are cheating on you. I have went through it before and it makes absolutely perfect sense. "But at the right place at the right time I'll be dead wrong and you'll be just fine" Is my favorite line, because you confront someone, only to look like an idiot torturing yourself, while they are doing fine. He is sitting alone instead of being with his girl because he has the wrong notion that she is cheating on him. Awesome song btw |
