Eric Bogle – The Band Played Waltzing Matilda Lyrics 17 years ago
Why are there no comments on this song? Why is this the only Eric Bogle song on here? Bloody hell, this is one of the most powerful war songs ever written!

"And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay, I looked at the place where me legs used to be,
And thank Christ there was nobody waiting for me,
to grieve, to mourn, and to pity."

If this line doesn't strike emotion in it, I don't know what will. The idea that these blokes went through all this and came back to an empty dock. The war took everything away from them, and in return they get nothing more than a parade once a year...

Dropkick Murphys – Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced Lyrics 17 years ago
The best song ever to listen to on the piss, 'specially if you're a sloppy drunk.

Besides maybe AcaDaca, but that's a different vibe completely.

"the line "united we stand, divided we fall" might be taken from the agnostic front song "gotta go"... who knows"

Oh dear...

But yeah, this is an amazing song (I especially like the pub version), the meaning I don't beleive is so much about this certain struggle, but the struggle of workers everywhere, with this event merely being used as a starting point to address a global and infinite issue. Either way, I love the Murphy's songs about unionism/working class struggle, it really sounds fair dinkum coming from them, as apposed to other folk where you know they're just talking out of their upper-middle class arse.
