| Man, this song is great live and on the album--but I think I like the album version more, even though robot!Gibbard caught me by surprise. XD | |

It's actually "floes". As in ice floes. Floes of ice. That kind of thing. I agree-the album version is more haunting. |

Here's the album version of the lyrics. Just a heads-up. One, two, three, four Oh, my talking bird Though you know so few words They're on infinite repeat Like your brain can't keep up with your beak And you're kept in an open cage So you're free to leave or stay And sometimes you get confused Like there is a hint that I'm trying to give you And the longer you think, the less you know what to do It's hard to see your way out When you live in a house in a house 'Cause you don't realize That the windows were open the whole time But oh, my talking bird Though your feathers are tattered and furled I'll love you all your days Till the breath leaves your delicate frame It's all here for you As long as you choose To stay It's all here for you As long as you don't fly away |

| Ah, just confirmed that on the album he says "That old Queen was more space" instead of "holds more". I'm pretty sure he did say "Holds" live, though. | |

The song is "Your New Twin Sized Bed", I believe. But I know from the live recording that it's "Other than a sick desire for self-abuse" |

Tessd, the only song we haven't heard is "You Can Do Better Than Me", which includes a great line about clothes in closets. ^_^ Anyway, these lyrics don't strike me as much different at all. You've still got the great descriptions. This song is a little more bare-bones, though, I'll give you that. Also, good goodness, there are mistakes on these lyrics too! Was the uploader just racing to be the first one on? |

| Some of these lyrics are very wrong, I think. At any rate, it's a very good song about kind of... escapism, I think. Or rather, not really escapism, but about being contented with things as they are. | |

| Ah, I just remembered--Bend to Squares, like this one, is written mostly in the third person. I'm running through my website now to find the other lyrics and check. | |

I think some of these lyrics are wrong. At any rate, I find this interesting that this is one of--if not THE first (I'll have to go back and check)--songs by Death Cab that is written in the third person. I love the descriptions in this song, and the constant math theme throughout. This is their second song to be named after a mathmatical "thing", I believe--Line of Best Fit would be the first. |
