| Sara Watkins – You're the One I Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Once again, the above lyrics are not at all the lyrics I submitted. Yes, it's a cover of an Everly Brothers song, but Sara Watkins' cover on Sun Midnight Sun does not lyrically mirror the original. Further, the lyrics above are incorrect no matter which version you're listening to. I'm beginning to see a pattern with lyrics the SongMeanings staff copy and paste via LyricFind in lieu of the actual submission. Here are the lyrics I submitted: Tenderly, tenderly Come to me tenderly You're the one I love You're the one I love Hold me near, hold me tight When you're near it's alright You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love Baby, don't you be afraid to love me Love me Baby, don't you be afraid to love me And I'll be good to you Come to me, come to me Tenderly, come to me You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love You're the one I love |

| Sara Watkins – Impossible Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I submitted these lyrics last night, but the lyrics appearing above are NOT the lyrics I submitted. They seem to have been copied and pasted from some other lyric site. The problem is, they lyrics above are wrong, which is why I did my own transcribing in the first place. Listen to the song, cross reference the lyrics with live versions on YouTube and anyone can see that the lyric site SongMeanings used is erroneous. Here are the lyrics I submitted: Is it impossible to learn to love Start giving all I've got to give, find out what I'm made of Untether the ties and decide from a heart someone might win If it isn't impossible, why couldn't you be him Is it impossible to be truly loved The answer to somebody's question they've been in search of To be wanted for all that I am, midnight moon or midnight sun If it isn't impossible, why couldn't you be that one Is it impossible to learn to love Start giving all I've got to give, find out what I'm made of Untether the ties and decide from a heart someone might win If it isn't impossible, why couldn't you |

Don't know what happened with the lyrics above, but here are the lyrics from Lyric Wiki (there really needs to be a reliable way to edit incorrect lyrics. many I've found on this site have gone unchanged for months): you, when you listen in the color of sorrow you're over me you, with eyes through meaning forward not given and holy you, you're something you mean something genuinely show me genuinely open to you here, sing to yourself tell me you want to be shown off you only listen to an endless you want to be over he is over you he is over you I want to be over you I want to show you pull me over you arms all over you I want to show you I love you silently |

| Of Monsters And Men – King and Lionheart Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Taking over this town, they should worry, But, these problems aside, I think I taught you well. That we won't run, and we won't run, and we won't run. And in the winter night, sky ships are sailing, Looking down on these bright blue city lights. And they won't wait, and they won't wait, and they won't wait. We're here to stay, we're here to stay, we're here to stay. Howling ghosts, they reappear In mountains that are stacked with fear, But, you're a king and I'm a lionheart. A lionheart. His crown lit up the way as we moved slowly Past the wandering eyes of the ones that were left behind. Though far away, though far away, though far away We're still the same, we're still the same, we're still the same. Howling ghosts, they reappear In mountains that are stacked with fear, But you're a king and I'm a lionheart. And in the sea that's painted black, Creatures lurk below the deck, But you're the king and I'm a lionheart. And as the world comes to an end I'll be here to hold your hand 'cause you're my king and I'm your lionheart. A lionheart. [x8] Howling ghosts, they reappear In mountains that are stacked with fear, But you're a king and I'm a lionheart. And in the sea that's painted black, Creatures lurk below the deck, But you're the king and I'm a lionheart. A lionheart. [x8] |

I find it a bit ironic that these lyrics are unavailable on this website due to copyright issues when the lyrics are mostly Poe verse--which, by the way, are public domain. Lovely song in any case and I actually prefer it to Poe's poem. |

| Sarah Jarosz – Come Around Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Just when you start to look away And I don’t know what I should say I can’t distinguish night from day Then you come around Just when things are lookin’ down And everybody’s wearing frowns The king went and misplaced his crown But it’ll come around Chorus: And I don’t want to lose my faith in you Cause sometimes I don’t have a clue Of what I’ve done and what I should do But I’ll come around These summer nights are hot and still The days are long but time instills A sense of hope, a coming thrill And I know it will Just when life seems like a lost cause People spinning words into angry flaws And I don’t know who I am or who I was Life comes around Chorus Just when the whirlwind begins Things twirling out of control, lost in the spin You gotta take a step back, start over again Find a way to win I may be young, I may be old I may be telling, I may be told I may be wise, I may be bold But I’ll come around Chorus And you’ll come around And we’ll all come around |

| Sarah Jarosz – Ring Them Bells Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Fascinating what people hear when they hear ambiguous-sounding lyrics. I wonder if anyone's ever done research into it. Correct lyrics: Ring them bells ye heathen from the city that dreams Ring them bells from the sanctuaries cross the valleys and streams For they're deep and they're wide And the world on its side And time is running backwards And so is the bride. Ring them bells Saint Peter where the four winds blow Ring them bells with an ironhand So the people will know For it's rush hour now On the wheel and the plow And the sun is going down upon the sacred cow. Ring them bells Sweet Martha for the poor man's son Ring them bells so the world will know that God is one Oh the shepherd is asleep Where the willows weep And the mountains are filled with lost sheep Ring them bells for the blind and the deaf Ring them bells for all of us who are left Ring them bells for the chosen few Who will judge the many when the game is through Ring them bells for the time that flies For the child that cries When the innocence dies. Ring them bells Saint Catherine from the top of the room Ring them from the fortress for the lilies that bloom Oh the lines are long and the fighting is strong And they're breaking down the distance between right and wrong. |

| Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is about getting Rick Rolled. | |
| Call and Response – Rollerskate Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it's about quantum physics | |
| The Pretenders – Human Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I have fond memories of this song in Rob Thomas' tragically short-lived TV series Cupid. It's a long shot, but I hope the show's latest incarnation for 08/09 uses the same song! I think The Pretenders' version of this song is infinitely better than the Divinyls' original. Then again, the Divinyls didn't have Chrissie Hynde rocking for 'em! | |
| The Weepies – Painting By Chagall Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My favourite song on Say I am You. Marc Chagall was one of the first painters I had any interest in and this song wonderfully reminds me of his Bouquet with Flying Lovers. Except for the satellites! | |
| The Weepies – Suicide Blonde Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I doubt this song has anything to do with "The Number 23" considering this album was released a year before the film was released. The most obvious referene would probably be INXS' "Suicide Blonde" from their X album. | |
| The Weepies – Happiness Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Love listening to this song when I'm feeling a bit down; it always brings my mood up. This is one of the most optimistic songs ever, and such a delight to listen to over and over! | |
| Aimee Mann – Stranger into Starman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The song is pretty obviously about reinterpreting the past to serve your own personal wont. In a literal sense, the song sort of tells you that the character erased their previously written "stranger" and wrote in "starman." The character applies that sort of revision to her experience with a person, hoping to make him better and more fitting. I'm sure many of us have compromised our sensibility for fear of being alone at one point or another. Also, the NYTimes Sunday crossword is difficult! |

| Coldplay – Yes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Did someone seriously call this the weakest song on the album?! Gah! This one is probably one of the best songs they've ever written imo. The last half of it so fantastically reminds me of My Bloody Valentine (Loveless, musically; Ecstasy & Wine, vocally). The song is perfectly placed right before "Viva la Vida." I don't know why, but it's so exhilerating listening to the layered guitars, then being greeted with the crisp string intro of "Viva la Vida." Thanks Brian Eno for steering Coldplay into the right direction! I just hope they stay on course for album numero cinco. |

| Aimee Mann – 31 Today Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I absolutely love this song! I never get tired of Aimee Mann's songs about "losers." It's a tough thing on your birthday when that moment comes where you examine your life and compare it to your age, compare it to other people more successful than you. Then you realize that you're not paying off a mortgage, still living in a one bedroom apartment, ordering takeout most of the time and having a beer or a glass of wine alone in the middle of the day. You look around and you feel like you lack that support net that good friends, family or a meaningful relationship can provide. You fail to find meaning in your situation, that thing that keeps you driven to move forward. But you don't do anything about it because you're hampered and you sink deeper in the life you've grown accustomed to. Yeah, after my first listening to this song I got freaked out about my next birthday! I agree with xxEmerxx -- I love the video for this song! It's goofy and make me laugh out loud a few times! Aimee Mann looks good in a mustache! |

| Aimee Mann – She Really Wants You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Favourite song on The Forgotten Arm! I think this song has a lot to do with being stuck in a bad relationship. The guy doesn't want to be in the relationship, the girl might be a little crazy or erratic, and the relationship they have can't be any more than destructive. But -- it's something, and when you don't think you can do better or deserve better, you either stay with the drama or try quit it only to find yourself drawn back. The song says "You can break it like another habit." The thing about habits is that they're easy to quit initially. But given time and a lack of a distraction or given a bad situation or incident and you can so easily find yourself back into the habit [this coming from someone with a few habits that need breaking!]. |

| Kevin Drew – Lucky Ones Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Wow, those lyrics are butchered! Anyway, regardless of what someone thinks the lyrics are, this is my favourite song on the album, edging out the very freakin' awesome and fun to listen and sing along to "When it Begins" |

| Metric – Fanfare Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this song in a reflection of the madeleine and tea passage of Marcel Proust's "Swann's Way." The first line is obviously the first initial taste of the combination, by the end there's the sense of familiarity. The second line is obviously about the growing sensation of the memory which has not fully presented itself yet The third line is the true remembrance of the memories of Combray, and his aunt and the indulgence of the great days walking through the gardens and the memories of the churches of Combray, The last line elaborates on the passage as the memory has been remembered and begins to peter out. It's really poses an interesting view of the protagonist of the story, Marcel, as possibly showing early signs of alzheimers and having his final vivid memories before he finally slips into cenility. Or, it's not really about anything. One or the other. |

| Shout Out Louds – Hard Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Without a doubt my favourite song from these folks. I can listen to this all day! For anyone who's ever failed to do something that they truly wanted to do, this song should speak volumes. | |
