i could be wrong but i really think that Dustin is referring to lust in this song he says hears your new drug and he could be referring to a new infatuation for another girl as a lot of boys have and a lot of things he describes sound like the things we feel as we like some one like fire in the veins and how it could be as painful as trying to use an axe to pull a splinter from the skin and how sometimes it hurts enough to bed for a razors kiss and how to be at peace would be a sin because we no the relationship isn't right but its like medicine because when are in a relation ship nothing else seems to matter...just my take though i could be wrong...oh and the blood clots and black holes could be referring to the scares and emptiness that these relation ships can leave behind once their over...again just my take...

sorry docsdaname1999 but if you look more into it the band doesn't want to be labeled as a Christian band because not all the members are Christian but Dustin himself is a firm believer in Christ and he wrote the lyrics and you can see clearly he is referring to God here as he speaks about us being sons and heirs of grace and a love that never dies and when he says a million heads are bowed to bring us safely home he is talking about how it says in the bible that the angles and Christ are praying for us at all times for our salvation even at the end he says "We feel an unseen love We are children of light Stand ready and tall, reflect the light" he is saying the unseen love is Christ because we are surrounded by him at all times and we are children of God and stand ready and tall cause the end is coming and reflect the light like it says to do in 2 Timothy chapter 4

if you look at the song and consider the fact that Dustin is Christian then you will realize that he is talking about the persecution of Christians in the last days when we will be shot and hung and burned as the stake for our faith in Christ and how some will simply deny Christ by "holding their tongues" and how we may be physically free from death but are we really free if fear of death causes us to deny our beliefs. and in the end he says "ill breath in fire and know im free" free from the life lived on earth and set free to live with christ...

i think it could be the hood thing over the truth but the word peregrine actually comes from the Latin word peregrinus meaning wanderer so i think it could have double meanings not just covering truth but maybe even referring to those who just wander though life
