I like that this song can be taken religiously and romantically. Right now, I see it as more romantic. It reminds me of this guy I'm crazy about (who is, in turn, crazy about me ^^) who is currently at basic training. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a "storm" and if I could even so much as get another letter in the mail from him, it would all be that much easier to endure. I can't wait to see him again. ^^ Anyway, great song. One of my all-time favorites. |

To me, this song is about two people who are, of course, in love and separated by something (war, distance, different careers, whatever). Despite his own sadness, the narrator wishes everyone in the world would give in to the feeling of love and peace, instead of dwelling on hate, violence, and materialism; that if everyone were as loved and thankful as the narrator and his woman, the world would be a better place. With such great love in his life, the narrator can see the world for the beautiful, wondrous place it really is. ^^ He wants everyone to see what he sees. I hope that made sense... xD I don't really know how to explain what I see in my head when I hear this song. It reminds me of my man in the Navy. :D |

I love this song! :D I think it's about someone who keeps getting in and out of relationships with one certain person, and that person always ends them. No matter how much the person hurts you, you still want them and you would get back with them in a heart beat. Reminds me of myself. I just got out of a relationship with the same guy for a third time, and I'm sad to say I'd do it again. |

This song reminds me so much of my brother. Lately, he's become a completely different person. Getting into alcohol and drugs, hurting my mother and myself, coming home at midnight or later. I'm so worried about him, I feel like he doesn't even notice. Like, he forgot how much we love him. So, yeah. This song pretty much makes me cry. :P |

Personally, I'm not all that antiwar either. And yet, I like this song a lot. Like a few other people said, I take it by it's basic meaning and ignore the sarcasm. The reason why I'm commenting this at all is because it's annoying me that so many people claim that the military is brainwashed and soldiers are mindless drones/robots. It's exactly the opposite. I'm in ROTC, and we basically learn the same things you would in the real military. We're first taught to respond to orders immediately; that's the easy part, really. Then orders become less frequent and we're left with only each other and we're together forced to think for ourselves, forced to make the right decisions/actions. I know there's someone reading this thinking, "lol thatz wut brainwashing is dumass". No, it's not. You're an idiot, and you can't possibly understand how the military functions until you experience it in some capacity. And, no, watching the news and listening to your liberal parents bitch about everything doesn't count. |
