Good lyrics are more poetic than most poetry, and are more important to me than the actual music. My taste in music is questionable, I am obsessed with a few select artists and when I read my own comments back I realise I sound ridiculous.

wow that is a great explanation, I didn't think anyone would have an answer which I felt explained the word choice but that make a lot of sense, and it fits in with the theme of the song. Thanks :)

I love this song but I can't listen to it when I'm living away from home, I get homesick by the end of the first line.

Being in the crowd while they play this live is amazing. If they do a gig near you, go, it'll be worth it.

Mumford & Sons – Hopeless Wanderer Lyrics 13 years ago
For some reason this is my favourite song of the whole album, even though I can't decide on the meaning. I think I just like some of the imagery and actual music, it is a really powerful song.

I keep wondering why the word 'forget' was used instead of 'forgive' in the line 'Lord forget all of my sins'. 'Forgive' would fit and usually people ask for sins to be forgiven not forgotten, it seems like they don't feel they deserve forgiveness. I am probably reading too much into a single word choice but does anyone know/have a theory on why 'forgive' was chosen?

Meat Loaf – Couldn't Have Said It Better Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song!!!! Its just saying that sometimes the best thing you can do is say nothing, and that when your in a relationship, you don't always need to talk because you know what each other are thinking.
Also I love the video to this, it is simple but great!

Meat Loaf – Because of You Lyrics 17 years ago
I only recently discovered this song but I absolutly love it. I'm not sure why, I don't think there is a particularly deep meaning, but it seems such an optimistic song and just sounds amazing!

Meat Loaf – Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are Lyrics 17 years ago
Just relating back to what tybrd69 says about Meatloaf's father, Meatloaf doesn't actually sing the middle verse of this song on stage because it is so real to him he can't do it, and only ever sings the other verses. They are on the CD but not in concert.
Thats one of the reasons Meatloaf is so great because the songs really mean something and he sings them as if it has happened to him, which often it has.

Meat Loaf – Life Is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back Lyrics 17 years ago
Its a great song, even though it is abit negative at heart. It does it perfectly though, really showing how at times absolutely everything can seem rubbish, and you feel like you've been given an unfair life. Good song, great to sing along to !

Meat Loaf – Everything Louder Than Everything Else Lyrics 17 years ago
This is just him looking back and saying to the next generation that its best to live life even though some may say your "wasting your youth" than aim for some thing 20 years in the future. I love the line
"Don't worry 'bout the future,
Sooner or later it's the past"
Its a great motto to live by when you've done everything you can and theres no point worrying anymore cos sooner or later it'll all be over and you'll look back and think "is that it?".
Great song, one of my faves.

Meat Loaf – Blind As A Bat Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that there could be alot of interpretations of this song, but when I first heard it I thought it was about finding a soulmate or a real best friend because they love you despite of all your flaws, and you get to a point where you aren't ashamed and you don't hide anything from them anymore, as in the line
"I'm not afraid to show you who I am"

Also the line "For reaching out to help me
Cross the bridges I have burned" could be about how your soulmate/best friend doesn't give up on you and however much you try to distance your self from them they will always be there for you and help you rebuilt what you have destroyed.

It is an absolutly beautiful song though, which ever way you look at it, and it can mean different things to each person depending on their own experiences, as with a lot of Meatloaf songs.
