| Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| My best friend recently lost her mother, who was my godmother. The other night her and I were driving through the country, windows down, playing this song as loud as my speakers would allow. This song is so much more than from the Dear John trailer. This song is of longing, of grief, of hopelessness. It is of the feeling of isolation which consumes your existence when you lose the one closest to you. No one should ever have to be abandoned, to be lost. We should always have someone. | |
| Minus the Bear – Into The Mirror Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Best on the album. ugh. This song is so good. So sexy. So Minus The Bear. Love every second of it. | |

This is definitely one of the best songs on the new album. Very sexy. But I wouldn't expect anything less from Alice and Ethan. |
|
| Death Cab for Cutie – The New Year Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Only reason I ever look forward to the beginning of another year, I get to play this song over and over again. | |
| Jonny Craig – 7AM, 2 Bottles and The Wrong Road Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i feel like he's singing straight to me :/ | |
| Trophy Scars – Alligator. Alligators. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh and yeah, saddest song, ever... just, I mean, it is to me. The fact that we've all had beautiful relationships, and that we've all had that one person, you know the one I'm talking about, and the fact that we've all had to eventually let go of that person... that is what makes this song so sad to all of us. Because we can relate to the pain and the dull ache of having to come to terms with the end of something you never, ever wanted to see go. But it has, and it did, and all you can do is let it go and deal. The ache of memories will never leave us, and so the pain, the same pain that is in this song, that is in Jerry's voice, is inside us all. | |
| Placebo – Five Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh yeah, he sounds frighteningly like Bob Dylan in this, in my opinion at least. | |
| Placebo – Kings of Medicine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| FAVOURITE SONG ON THE ALBUM. Hands down. This song is endearing and beautiful and it's perfect in all the right ways and all the wrong ways. Brian Molko is beautiful, Placebo is beautiful, and I take pride in saying that I am fan. | |
| Placebo – Come Undone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Personally, I REALLY do like this song. It's not definitely not as raw as some Placebo songs are, but I think there's definitely power behind this song. I like all the riffs and the way Brian sings it... he sounds helpless to me. | |
| Placebo – Ashtray Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure this is one of my favourites off the new album. Personally, I like the spanish singing; it's catchy. Just like how I fell in love with Protege Moi. | |
| Placebo – Five Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think it's quite fitting that Placebo would cover a Bowie song. | |
| Shiny Toy Guns – Major Tom (Peter Schilling cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| dude, this cover is fucking amazing. i haven't been able to stop listening to it. | |
| Sequoyah Prep School – Hurricane Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is the ending song for the mix tape I made someone, someone important. The last 50 seconds of this song are incredible. Hands down, the best song I have ever heard. Really. |
|
| mewithoutYou – Four Word Letter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Further notes: I feel that this song is most definitely addressing Jesus, or God (really, they're same). He speaks of a time when he did not believe in God (or betrayed him, in a sense), and even though he chose to not be a believer, God still "held his hand", meaning God still believed in him. The speaker says how he thought he sold his soul for something better, meaning that he thought he found something better than God, or that he could live without him. The part about rain, I believe, is the speaker telling of hardships he has been through. He says he didn't mind them, maybe because he believed he could overcome them on his own, without God's help. I think the part "it's not me that you've missed" is sort of like saying that God accepted that the speaker did not believe him, if only for a while. "You heard me when I cried. You've seen you've loved a side of me that died." Here the speaker tells of how God heard and saw him when he was going through those hardships, when he cried, when he was helpless and lost. God continued to love the speaker despite his choice to not believe in him. God loved the speaker even though the speaker may not have necessarily loved himself. "I remember sunshine. And you were mine." I believe this is symbolic for when the speaker DID believe in God. It was a more positive time in his life, maybe for various reasons, one of them being his belief in God. "It's still a cloudy, but there's no rain in sight." To me, this means that the speaker is not necessarily going to regain his faith in God just yet, for the sunshine represents God, and he speaks of it is still cloudy. "No rain in sight," could very well mean that his life is a little better than what it was currently. Basically, the speaker is saying that even though his life has improved somewhat, it's not going to get any better because he still has yet to regain his relationship with God. No rain, no hardships, but still cloudy, still faithless. This is how I interpret it, because well, I am there, too. I wish I could find God again. But I don't think I ever had Him to begin with. Faith seems more obligated, to me, than actually wanted. I feel pressured to have a relationship with God. And I feel guilty for not forming that relationship. But, for me, I am just unable to do it. I am unable to believe that He exists. I hope He can forgive me... |

| mewithoutYou – Dying Is Strange and Hard Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Holy shit. I love the raw passion in this song. I mean, granted, every mewithoutYou song is brimming to its edge with intense emotion and energy, but this one... damn, this one gets to me. "Come out and kiss me darling, I promise I'll kiss you back." |
|
| Lovedrug – Pretend You're Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Funny story, actually, for the longest time I thought "enjoy life" was "end your life." Haha, pretty much the total opposite. I love love love this song<3 |
|
| Lovedrug – Blackout Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| excuse my vulgar language, but i fucking love the guitar in this song. | |
| Placebo – Protege Moi Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
When I first heard this song, I thought the title was wrong, because it sounded just like Protect Me From What I Want, and then when Brian began singing in French, I realized that it WAS Protect Me From What I Want, just in French. I love love love this song<3 |

| Tears for Fears – Head Over Heels Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm sure it's been said before, but the sequence of scenes that corresponds with this song in Donnie Darko, is one of my favourite scenes of any movie. Brilliant movie, it really was. | |
| mewithoutYou – Silencer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"I tried to love you and I failed." Is it just me, or does this line ring loud and impending in my ears every time I reflect on a past, successfully failed, love? It was my fault. It always was. Who am I speaking to, again? |
|
| mewithoutYou – A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The beginning of this song, the part about the cat, and the peacocks, it has become the soundtrack of my dreams lately. I'm not able to get over "Now everyone watch me, everyone watch me, scales these outside walls." It gives me the chills when I'm listening to it late at night. | |
| Bayside – We'll Be O.K. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I can find the parallels between this song and past relationships of mine. One of my ex boyfriends and I sort of used each other in a way, just like in this song. He used me for physical attention, and I used him, not exactly for "fame", but just so I could say I was with someone. Very fast, passionate, ultimately meaningless relationship. | |
| Fall Out Boy – West Coast Smoker Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree. Because I can see how this song could possibly be about ignoring things going on in the world, "let's just take off again instead.", and doing drugs. The whole 'nervous wreck' thing plays a part, because, I mean, some drugs can make you like that, or even BUYING them can make you nervous. | |
| Placebo – Follow the Cops Back Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"I am medicated, how are you?" The grestest line ever. |
