it is definitely about a break up, but i don't think it's about guilt. the way i've interpreted it, it's mostly about his partner not even caring about him or their relationship anymore, and his feelings of powerlessness because he knows he is unable to mend their relationship. he is angry because she doesnt even care, and because she is pretending to; hence "oh please don't cry, you liar". lovely song :) |

Lovely lyrics. It is obviously about God, and his power. The first 10 lines say how easily he could use it to destroy everything. But the last line, it shows that he still has hope that he will use his power to "turn night into day". Thus, the title. I may not believe in God, but I really do know the feeling of knowing someone who can make everything okay. ahhh :) |

ahh, great lyrics. i saw him live a while back and he was amazing!!! i think this song is about diving into a relationship with only an attraction and no real basis (not knowing each other well enough, etc.) and then when that initial attraction has faded, the relationship totally falls apart because there is no reason for it to survive. eg. "can't wear the face if you dont have the head for it" |
