I agree, the '7000 holes' reference reeks of heroin. Just a comment, I'm not sure if it's the line or the way she sings it, but I get goosebumps with the closing lines... "But I, in my wretched state, Fat from years of sucking hate, can never scrape the dirt off, Can never shake the other side It hides in holes behind my eyes" Oh Carla, where art thou? |

I see this song as a take on the classic theme of unrequited/'she's taken' love. Let's just say that Mr. Sheff does it better than Mr. Jovi. This song gets me in how it's a both a desperate plea to this 'queen' and a scathing review of her 'king'. My favorite line: "If stones could dream, they'd dream of being layed side-by-side, piece-by-piece, and turned into a castle for some towering queen they're unable to know." Poetry.... |
