I kind of take the tongue in cheek note in "now we can swim any day in november" and apply it to that verse, as if we think we should be rewarded by doing petty things like putting our names on letters or stopping for stop signs, like that could matter at all in the grand scheme of things. just a note that both verses end with day in november, maybe if he could swim, jfk's assassin would have had something better to do. |

formatted this way I don't agree with myself but when i listen to the song, I hear "I'll love you only for your days(or daze?) and excitement" as if to say that they're only in it for the good times. Either way, this is one of my favorite songs . |

"Please let my girl go without knowing what I know" I heard it as '..go, without..' and envisioned an action movie where they're using someone's love to get them to divulge information. It'd be a bit of a weak plea if that was the case, but all the same I thought it was an interesting take on that situation. obviously its '..go without..' when you read the rest of the lyrics, and I opt towards a more open interpretation, because it doesn't matter if this girl was murdered or if he's a detective, It's simply about the preservation of innocence. |
