Radiohead – Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box Lyrics 17 years ago
Haha, why can't this song just be about exactly what it seems to be about? Ie rush hour on the London Underground. Youre packed like sardines, and when he says to get off his case, he means briefcase. the person on the case doesnt need to be specified because theyre all reasonable people on a tube, but no one has a choice. Its really about that feeling that youre better than this, when youve been to uni and waited all your life for the good stuff to happen... only to end up packed in a tube train twice a day with strangers.

Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics 17 years ago
How can no one here have been reminded of more modern examples? Such as Tony Blair, or George Bush (he may not have been deposed yet, but he's certainly immensely unpopular world over). It's all very well linking it to the past, which seems quite explicit in the lyrics, but i'm pretty sure they were thinking of modern examples as well. Mostly I thought of Tony Blair the first few times of hearing it, and thought about how even in these modern times, leaders still wield such power and decide the fate of millions at the roll of a dice. Anyone else get that from this song?

Portishead – The Rip Lyrics 17 years ago
I straight away thought of Radiohead too with this song, although i think it was the instrument that replaces the guitar sound that reminded me of 'All I Need'. Certainly In Rainbows was a big step closer to the Portishead sound.

I agree with much of the post above about the meaning. I wonder if the song title answers her question 'will i follow'? It sounds like as there is a rip, perhaps the wild white horses did take her away from the dark. But then why i ask the question? There must be some doubt. Perhaps its a question we're meant to ask ourselves - what happens to us when we feel that way?
