This song is absolutely about friendship to me .. Obviously for some reason, he/she lost her bestfriend (whether it be due to death, or a fight) and he/she says that no matter what, they'll see their friend in a positive way, and think of everything their friend has done for them (you shine brighter than anyone) .. you might disagree but i just lost my best friend of 3 years in a matter of 3 seconds over something stupid .. it's been two weeks and i cry every night about it, so right now every song i hear is about losing someone close to you .. melissa if you're reading this i hope you know that i don't hate you and i never did and i never will, and i'll be there for you no matter what, no matter how much you don't want me to be - i will . |

this song means a lot to me .. my old friend and i love this play, along with the girl who played elphaba, idina menzel. we used to sing it all the time and we decided that "this was our song" you know .. like about us. well we got in a huge fight .. i don't even know what it was about .. something so stupid. the meanest things were said and we went on hating eachother, you can lose a best friend of 3 years in less than 3 seconds .. i never knew that, i just hope one day she reads this and realizes that dispite all of the nasty things i said - i really do care, for whatever it's worth . |

i didnt know the meaning of this song until recently .. its about a girl who is in a relationship with a guy, but she secretly has feelings for someone else. "Don’t bite your lip to hold back your smile Just think of this As bending the rules You’re walking a thin line Between me and what’s right This thread seems worn and frayed" ^^ thats my favorite line, it means that this girl has been in this situation many times before and can never make up her mind.
