"Beyond the door, there's peace I'm sure, and I know, there'll be no more, tears in heaven"
This song brings tears to my eyes every time no matter how hard I try not to cry... I don't think a better song has ever been written to express the feeling of unexpectedly losing a loved one before their time. This song is beautiful and heartwrenching at the same time. |

If you can take the video to be a representation of what the song means, I think the singer met a girl and they had a kiss, and he felt like it would lead to something more meaningful, but then she just goes off and flirts with other guys and then leaves with one of them. He goes home alone and lays in bed thinking about what the girl and the other guy are doing and his imagination runs wild. He recognizes that the anguish he is putting himself through is the price he pays for getting carried away after that first kiss and tries to convince himself that his destiny lies with someone else, so he wants to look on the bright side. At least that's my interpretation based on the music video. Great song though. |

This song to me is about just enjoying the simple fact that you are alive and that you don't need to rely on someone else's standards to enjoy your life, only your own. It's also about letting other people live their lives and not imposing your standards on them. In all, a really feel good song about enjoying the life you have, no matter what, until the end of the line comes.
My favorite line is, "Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive, I'm just glad to be here happy to be alive." I drive a pretty beat up car and my friends always joke with me about it so I like the way this line in the song makes me feel. |

It's interesting to see what people wrote on here in 2002 before the debacle in Iraq. There were people denouncing Bush before any of it happened, and then people attacking them for denouncing Bush. In hindsight, it looks as if those denouncing Bush were right. He's changed the reason for invasion from WMDs to getting rid of Saddam to freedom for the Iraqi people to protecting US interests in the Middle East. Bush and his cronies have profitted a ton from this war and the government continues to curb our liberties with things like the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, and Bush's Presidential signing statements. The economy is in shambles and we continue to lose respect throughout the world.
This song may have originally been about Vietnam, but it still applies today to the war in Iraq. People who are calling others stupid for linking this song to Iraq and not Vietnam are taking this site too literally. Song meanings don't end with current events, but continue to be applicable for years and years after the songs were written. |

It's sad that the most powerful country in the world which is supposed to be the most free and democratic has achieved its power through war and domination. Spreading democracy to politicians means sending the poor to die while they rake in profits behind the scenes. Those who support war for economic gains can only be called pure evil. No money should ever be worth even one human life. |
