When I hear this song I can't stop thinking about an episode of The Hills I just watched where Kristin tells Brody that she wants to take a shot at a relationship with him again, and he shoots her down and tells her its too late (basically he "won"), and then walks out of her house, ("you have gone and so effortlessly"). For the past season she's been playing some sort of game with him and not fully telling him how she feels (taking caution when it comes to love). She's been going on and on telling everyone that she doesn't want a relationship and that she just wants to be single, but in reality she has always wanted to settle down with Brody. This song reminds me so much of Kristin. She's always tried to have the upper hand when it comes to love and she's opened her heart for once only to be shot down, and I'm sure Brody has told their mutual friends and probably embarrassed her. And I know that at one point she would have said that her professing her love would have been impossible. She really laid it out for him, ("all my scars are open"). You could tell that she always thought that she was different than all the other girls that Brody has ran through, and the relationship that he kept with her made her believe that she was, ("falling for betrayal is worse). Kind of funny that it reminds me of this, but I can't seem to get it out of my head and thought I'd share it. Basically, Kristin thought that a guy hurting her would be impossible, and now Brody has won by being the one guy to get to her. |

| Maybe he's talking about Tonya Harding? I agree with hunybunbunny's comparison of fame to murder by rape. He talks about Tonya's rape charges? Her counterpart on the attack of Nancy Kerrigan is another way that compulsion can turn you toxic. So maybe her involvement in that is eminem's reference to rape. | |

This is song is so upbeat and sweet. I want someone to sing in to me. He's obviously telling her he it's not easy to spell out how he feels about her but he's going to try simply because "there's something right about you and me" My favorite line is, "we're like good times that haven't happened yet but will". It's like that feeling of infatuation you have in a new relationship when you can envision your relationship down the road. I like that he sings the lyrics a little fast and I love when I catch onto certain phrases in the songs like, "you're the color of the colored part of the wizard of oz movie", "we have too much life to taste", and "we'll throw the careful into the crazy". When the wizard of oz came out the color in the movie was so fascinating. aw. I also like the line "we're stealing anything to get more of this feeling" Their feelings are like a drug addiction. I am obsessed with this song right now. |

Yes, the lyrics are "that side of your bed is still mine." "And some of you better steal mine" doesn't really make sense. She's saying that side of your bed is still mine, even though they aren't even together. I love this song though. It reminds me of how in denial I can be with my actions sometimes. She's saying we're over... but come... I'm not over it... and then she's saying I'm already at the finish line (saying she's done with the relationship) but then counteracting it by calling him late at night (when it's so easy to be lonely) and telling him to come over. And then beating herself up the next morning for calling him. And saying the mean things he said right back to him, but then getting desperate at night (but claiming she's not desperate). I don't know why but it's so easy to be single during the day when you're busy and have things to do, but late at night I always want a little comfort. She just seems in such a horrible situation. Hating him at one moment and then wanting him the next. I can totally relate to this catch-22 situation. Her words just keep going back and forth. I don't care, but I do care... It's the definition of obsessing over a situation. LOVE this song. |

This song brings so much emotion to me. It reminds me of a relationship that I currently got out of. He was extremely addicted to drugs. No matter how much I tried to leave him I could never see it through. One day I finally did it. I don't know how I found the strength, and that's what is so symbolic about the black sandals. She hoped that the little black sandals were going in the right direction and she mentions that she's happy she has brains down there. I think it was obviously difficult for her to find the strength that she almost doesn't know where it came from, putting the blame on the little black sandals. A huge part of her still wants to be with him, just as a huge part of me is also tempted to be in my old relationship. But there's something that is keeping me from it knowing it's wrong (the little black sandals). This song is so amazing and I can't believe there weren't more comments. |
