this song is about what many of you have already said. however you need to take bits and pieces from each of your explanations and add them altogether to get the full picture. manson is quoted as saying he does not believe there is no God but that religion has twisted God into a tool to justify humanities monstrous behaviour and also as a scapegoat. so when he printed shirts saying Kill God he means killing the falsified idea of God and bringing back the true one. |

actually guys this song was written because dani viewed a particular film called Salo (The 120 days of Sodom) based off a book written by the infamous Marquis DeSade while he was imprisoned. read the info or the book or view Salo yourself and then watch the music video and it will all make sense. |

i like the interpretation above... however, COBHATEBREEDER, i have my own ideals. this song seems to be about pagans yearning to freely practice their rites without christianity's ever controlling and judgemental eye. also, wiccanism is very different from witchcraft as witchcraft calls to a much darker goddess. thirdly, this song seems to name christianity's persecution of the pagans, then adding insult to injury by butchering and twisting pagan holidays into their beliefs so that pagans would be more "comfortable" to convert to monotheism. Samhaim is a pagan holiday similar to the mexican day of the dead. We know this as halloween. The first jack o lanterns were meant to be smaller versions of the bonfires, or pyres as it says in the song. these bonfires were meant to keep away the spirits and ghosts the pagans believed came on Samhain. theres much more to it you can find but nonetheless i like your interpretation as well. |

actually UnraisedMetal, you are correct and both incorrect. there is more than one form of satanism. Anton LaVey's satanism is actually a pretty new form. older forms take on a much more literal interpretation to satan. |

this song is not about abortion. if you people would actually follow interviews you'd know that creed's vocalist stated himself that this song is about falling away from God like what happened when God brought the flood to punish the earth. the floods come and they all pile in the bus or "ark". then when the storm goes away we are back in faith with God. |

okay i sat back and read enough of your shit so now its time to end your meaningless rant. first off... i am NOT a christian. i have pieces from a few religions that i believe in. for example, i believe in God and Jesus = christian. i believe man has a good and evil side and it is up to him to decide which side to embrace = satanist. i believe everything has its own aura/energy = paganism/buddhism. get the point? anyway. first off i'll shut you up with a question... if you dont like creed then why did you come into a forum where one of their songs is the topic? second of all who are you to say that God isnt real and that science is the ultimate answer? you're right... science may be the ultimate answer... because God gave man a brain.... makes you wonder if he wanted us to have science so we could learn for ourselves doesnt it? how about you look at the whole picture instead of your narrow minded point of view |

this is NOT about not believing in God. its about not believing in the God the church teaches of because the church warped God into a tool to control people. Manson is an Episcopal christian as well as a Satanist because of his ideal how Satan and man were both created in God's image so we are the same as satan. which is true when you look at the fact that we so often use the scapegoat the "devil" made us do it. or "blame the media". when you think about it... we are the ones that create the video games and movies that we blame. therefor we ARE the devil we blame. |

okay you're all wrong because upon reading manson's semi-autobiography i have come to a realization... this song is not a slap in the face to Corgan. Nor is Reznors song a slap in the face to manson, because manson and Reznor are best friends in fact without reznor manson would still be unheard of. but this song is about how religion is used as a tool to control the masses. it also mocks how the church tries to cover up the flaws brought into question by manson. The verse "god is in the t.v." is a direct shot at how so many evanglican tv healers perform "miracles" then turn around and ask you to pay them for the viewing of "Gods Power" btw no cheap shots at me cuz i am christian but i fully believe most of mansons ideals. |

ok for u ppl like bugmenot and afflicted4life, just because u are of pagan, or other religions doesnt mean that u r going to hell, when jesus said you can come in only through me he meant that as long as u follow virtue and good, you will make it. sad part is i am atheist and know more about it than you, also i bet you didnt know that most of our holidays are based on paganism. |
