In regards to how big a song impacted me on first listen, this might be my favorite coldplay song ever. Its definitely up there... chorus just kills me, musically, lyrically everything. I'm an extremely nostalgic personality who spends probably too much time worrying about things in general, when I listen it feels like I am getting hit in the chest with a cinder block and I want to cry tears of happiness and hope. |

Great song. I think the meaning is pretty straightforward-- Eventually we all die and turn into the same stuff, life will move on without us, but while we are here we can still do some good. It comes off to me as a sort of combination of optimism and agnosticism, and it works better than you'd expect. |
