While I partially agree with Da H8RRR, I believe that roltan and ferret111 are missing the heavy implications of the line, "I guess you don't remember anything" The unforgiving hell this guy must have endured in order to still be able to remember "The dress [he] ruined with the soda pop" and the utter desperation that engendered his plea of "Give me somethin' that I can remember" and again the stinging accusation, "I guess YOU don't remember anything" - - How about the clever way he sings "Cool sea haze" to sound like "Boozy haze" - - You just know this guy is at rock bottom. Not to mention the overpowering emasculation caused by his failed marriage this poor sap must have felt while remembering that "[he] was everybody's friend Ooooh ooooh. Damn right, Ooooh ooooh!! If this song is just bubblegum it must be regurgitated bubblegum, flavored with bile, Jack Daniels and the salty tears of a beach bum wandering the shores of his youth at night contemplating his last ride. |
