Shinedown – Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom) Lyrics 15 years ago
Amazing song. Different sound than what were used to. Almost the same tone as their other movie hit "her name is alice." Maybe we'll hear more of this in their future album. We can only wait.

Mudvayne – Scarlet Letters Lyrics 16 years ago
If any one has read Nathaniel Hawthorn's "The Scarlet Letter" they would understand the meaning of this song.
The scarlet letter is a brand and or burden that was forced onto a woman because she committed adultery, therefore she wears the letter A
The person in this song has done something that he shouldn't have and now he carries that burden.
and he doesn't want to affect his loved ones with this burden so he's going to off himself.

I like this version better than the static x original version.
And I think it says scared as hell instead of stained.
Not really sure what the whole meaning of the song is.

Shinedown – Son of Sam Lyrics 17 years ago
The verse you are talking about is actually
" And I will catch you, but you might break the fall"
He is saying yea he'll help you now, but you'll be punished.
It's his deception that it talks about through the song.

Shinedown – Son of Sam Lyrics 17 years ago
No Its about the "Son of Sam" killings back in '76-'77.
David Berkowitz was sentenced to six lives in prison for the murders of six people and attempted seven. He said that his neighbors dog was possessed by a demon and ordered him to kill. The "Sam" in mention was not his father, but his neighbor "Sam Carr" that owned the dog. All this stuff and more are on Wikipedia- Son of Sam

Great sound but don't really like the GD being used that often.

Shinedown – The Dream Lyrics 17 years ago
Whoops my bad wrong song 45 was on the other cd.
But my idea is still the same with "some day" he's at the end and starts thinking about the begining and the poem says to slow down, and try to notice stuff you didn't before and remember its only a song and to not get caught up in all the madness.

Shinedown – The Dream Lyrics 17 years ago
The poem is at the beginning of the album because at the end of the album "45", it tells you that they are going to kill themself. And you get caught up in figuring out what the song means, and you think about him killing himself and what he is thinking, and you realise that when you are at the end you start thinking about the beginning. So you go to this poem and you listen to it. It implies that "Its only a dream" "Its only a song", and to enjoy life. Because when you die you lookback at your life and question it.

Shinedown – Atmosphere Lyrics 17 years ago
Yes the did put the wrong lyrics.

It about a guy who has died and is looking down from heaven. He was waiting infront of the gates of heaven, until it was his time to be judged. He is with God and his life flashes before his eyes, and God asks him if he's worthy, and he tells him that he thas seen alot of things, he's been to alot of places, and he has sinned. And he asks for forgiveness, that is why he's not frail. He has belief that he's forgiven for all his sins.

I'm not trying to push religion or anything.

Shinedown – Devour Lyrics 17 years ago
The song sounds more like he's saying " wonder where you'd go" as in heaven or hell. Because as you've read^, it's about the war and killing some sand niggers.

Shinedown – Sound of Madness Lyrics 17 years ago
OK this is a really awesome song. It could have one true meaning but heres what i think so far. The character is like a father or mother figure, and they are yelling at their child because they think that he's making the wrong decision. Unlike the parent, he knows what he wants to do and is trying to show them that this is the right path. They think that he needs a "kick in the ass" that knocks some sense into him. This parent is obviously very mean, and thinks that its humorous that their child is in this stage of childhood where he thinks he's right and he knows everything, and he's ready for the world. They tell him that in life "Quicksand" its not gonna play with you its just gonna take you in and absorb you. And they're just sitting there watching them sink. They're saying "I told you so". They try to help but he's gone and pissed his life away ,and its too late to save him now.
In the song the chorus could be the child telling his parents his view, but I'm not sure. His view would probably be that he's gonna leave soon but he's not sure why he hasn't already left yet. He's tired of preaching to his parents and has pretty much give up on them. Telling them that they have to quit relying on other people to fight their battles for them.He thinks that they don't know what they're talking about. He's saying he knows what the risk is, and he's prepared. He's gonna go through with it. The parent think that he is gonna grow out of it, but he's not. He's gonna continue and make it his profession.

Basically he's a kid telling mommy that he's gonna be a songwriter when he grows up. The mom thinks its a stage, but it isn't. He's bound and determined that hes gonna do it. The mom has no support for his childish decision.

Shinedown – Begin Again Lyrics 17 years ago
The song to me is about a person who mentally sold his soul to the devil to become something better, but he is regreting what he did soon after. He is wanting to psycologically return to humanity, and out of this mental Hell, but he can't because socioty will not accept him for what he has done. He knows they would never understand what he went through, and what he's going through now, and so he forever rotts his mind in this chamber of Hell. Shinedown is alot like reading Shakespere, lots of deciphering and mental challenging.

Has any one thought that there might be another reason Shinedown re-did the song? Maybe theres a message behind the song that nobody has deciphered, and thats what most of Shinedowns songs do, they want you to think about it and find what it means to you. This is the reason I love this band. I'v almost killed myself trying to figure out what this song means and I have found about 3 different meanings, but Im not going to share, I'll let you figure it out on your own. HINT: Think Psycologically, I figured it out and Im only 17

Shinedown – I Dare You Lyrics 17 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. All of the other theorys make scense, but heres my take on the story. The lyrics " I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire," and "paint me your canvas so i become what you could never be," could be linked to some child abuse or neglect by a father figure. If you think about it, walking through the fire could mean a beating or psycological torment as in yelling or saying "your not good enough," or "you'll never amount to anything." "Paint me your canvas so i become what you could never be." could mean, "O.K, show me how good of a father you can be and I'll be a better father to my child than you were ever to me." If you listen to the song carefully you can find other lyrics that can also support this theory.
