Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Interesting, that of all the songs on here by Foster the People, only THIS one has lyrics pulled for "copyright infringement". Doesn't this fall under DCMA? Seems like the high number of comments ticked off a corporate music bigwig and thought that SongMeanings was capitalizing off of the fame of the song. But then, the same could be said about Foster the People's capitalizing on young assassins and their sprees, because that's what this song is clearly about... and what the "copyright violation" is, too... |

On top of that, "Unknown Brother" gives off a Judeo-Christian view of death; "Sinister Kid" twice mentions "Maker" and once mentions "devil" in a single chorus, using capital 'M' for "Maker", a distinction usually reserved for God [and this is the original capitalization from the liner notes designed by drummer Pat Carney's brother, Michael]; and "These Days" warns to "Watch what you say/The devil is listening". Now, after 3 songs on one album indicate a Judeo-Christian point of view, they're atheists. |

The lyrics are wrong. Here's the lyrics from the official Rocksmith video game DLC version of the song: Down in the waves She screams again Roar at the door My mind can't take much more I could never drown in They wanna' get my (2x) CHORUS Gold on the ceiling I ain't blind It's just a matter of time Before you steal it It's all right Ain't no guarding my high Clouds covered love's Barbed wire snare Strung up strung out I just can't go without I could never drown in They wanna get my (2x) CHORUS |

I have found an alternate... "Ain't no GUARDIN' my eye" which could also be "Ain't no GUARN IN my eye", which makes more sense, given the song's talk of stealing. Someone else came to the same conclusion: http://blindmusings.tumblr.com/post/14130061535/they-wanna-get-my-they-wanna-get-my-gold-on-the AND the official Black Keys fan blog has a thread about this song, and also has considered "guardin'" as the possible word. |
Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse – Little Girl Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I have a proposed alteration: It kills your neighbors AND IT DOESN'T CRUSH THEIR BONES. That's what I heard, anyway. If that lyric is correct, then it would be a reference to Jesus' crucifixion. While it was customary to break the crucified person's limbs to speed up death, Jesus' bones remained unbroken because He had died before it became necessary. |
Sparklehorse – Grim Augury Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This needs to be listed as artist "Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse", connected to the album, "Dark Night of the Soul", and the title changed to "GRIM Augury". |
Beck – Gamma Ray Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Okay, the lyrics here are wrong. The correct lyrics can be accessed through Guitar Hero 5 via the vocal track. "With her countanance turning around" actually is "With the continents turning around". "And the backwater's calling your name" actually is "And the back biter's calling your name". I sung along using these lyrics and was surprised at the differences! Great song, and the lyrical tune-ups only reinforce the global warming theme, thanks to the continents reference. |
Gnarls Barkley – Would-Be Killer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think that the lyric should not be "Hurt people, hurt people" but instead "Hurt people hurt people"; in other words, people who have been hurt in turn hurt other people. Just an idea. |
