I love this song. I always kinda related it more to a relationship than to friendship though. and like jbirdyq says, it has a deeper meaning...like, we're flyin high now, we cant feel the ground [the high, the amazing part of the relationship] but please dont run away when my ganja’s all gone [he doesnt want her to leave him?] i dunno I think of it more as a cute song than just smoking song haha |

One of my favorite Jack Johnson songs, I gotta say. I love it cause I live in Goleta and when I hear this song I just picture two beach cruisers at UCSB next to each other, like it says. And I think that may actually be the real story, cause didnt Jack used to live here? I dunno. But i love the imagery throughout the whole song. The piano and the tree and just ah I love it; I picture a modern somewhat empty house and two young in-love people like running around it haha. Jack is great |

This song is epic. It can be depressing, inspiring, hopeful, lonely...whatever you're feeling when you listen to it (or maybe thats just me?). I'd say its definitely about finding something, or someone. My friend once pointed out "turn out the lights and what are you left with" saying that it could mean something along the lines of that humans look too much into physical appearance. So turn off the lights and then what? You get something completely different. "You have too much Spending all your time Collecting and discovering It's not enough. And no matter how you try, You never find the one you want." You cant go looking. common cliche, you cant look for love, love has to find you...but its true. If you search too hard, it's harder to find whatever you may be searching for, or maybe when you search too much, you forget what you were looking for in the first place ? ah who knows. |

this song can have so many different meanings. Every time i listen to it it always seems to relate to whichever situation or mood I may be in. I think a few lines of it sound to me like someone who's afraid to fall in love. Yet the chorus makes me think of two people who want to be together but cant, for whatever reason. "Everything you want is wrong," and "all your dreams are waking up" show that they are living in dream world because they cant be together for real. "I think that you came too soon." Maybe they want to be together but for whatever reason, for now they can't. The chorus of "freedom, run away tonight" also repeats a lot, which goes along with the idea that they want to be together so badly, yet cannot. Amazing song. |

Wow. So basically this song has almost 2000 plays on my iTunes cause its truly just amazing, especially when youre not too happy. For some reason I always interpretted it as like... A girl and guy are best friends and yet she feels more. she is always itching to let him know how she feels but she's scared. So one day she tells him and he doesnt feel the same; he tells her he cant love her like that. She is devestated and does not know where to go and how to cope. She's hurt. I'm not really sure why that comes to mind cause looking at everyone else's comments mine seems to differ haha buut for some reason thats how ive thought of it. beautiful song though. Piercing. very good to cry to as well hah |
