| If there's one thing I am okay with after his death, is that he has finally found peace. No one can hurt him now. | |
| Michael Jackson – Heaven Can Wait Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is the one Michael Jackson song I can't bring myself to listen to now. It is so beautiful and honest, but now means something completely different to me. I thought you said Heaven Could Wait Michael, didn't you tell the Angels no? :( Before he passed though, I got the idea this song may be about his daughter. Many may think it's about his lady or something, but I really see the connection to his daughter. |

1968 comeback special - If I Can Dream, brings tears to my eyes. He put so much meaning into it, it's truly truly beautiful. This song leaves me speechless, and watching him perform it in concerts reassures to me why I'm an Elvis fan. Thank you Elvis, for everything you've given to us through your music. You will never be forgotten, and we will remember you for eternity through your music and songs like these. thank you |

Watch the dance he does to it. He did it a couple of times in the 90s and again in I think 2001/2003. It's amazing! Makes me love this song even more! :D |

| Michael Jackson – You Rock My World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is one of my favourite Michael jackson songs. Say what you want about the guy, but he knows how to write music. Sure it didn't gain as much popularity (due to the label dispute), but it doesn't mean it wasn't good. I loved it, loved the video, and the dancing in it was awesome :) Anyways, say what you want but THE KING OF POP IS BACK! He's breaking records again! We love you Michael Jackson! |

| Michael Jackson – Childhood Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Michael said this is his most 'autobiographical' song he's ever written. If you know anything about Michael Jackson's childhood, it is that he didn't have one. In this song, he is saying "have you seen my childhood?" - he didn't have one, and is constantly trying to make up for it. He has also said in interview he feels like he has to compensate for that, hence the line: "it's been my fate, to compensate, for the childhood, i've never known" Michael had a very sad and lonely childhood, and if you understand that it explains a lot of who he is. He's very complicated and people don't try to understand him before they judge him. This song is beautiful, and truly says what Michael was feeling. |

Great song by the King of Pop. He's saying "there are so many other things going on... why are you bothering me for?" |

| Michael Jackson – Gone Too Soon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is dedicated to Ryan White, a young victim of AIDS who Michael befriended prior to his death. It is beautiful and if you watch the music video, tears will come to your eyes. Michael Jackson is such a beautiful, beautiful person inside... and what he did for Ryan White proves it . |

| Elvis Presley – Don't Cry Daddy Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I get this feeling in my heart whenever I listen to this song. I can't describe it well, but whenever I feel a deep emotion for a song, it feels as if my heart as sunk. This is a beautiful, beautiful song sung by a beautiful beautiful singer. Elvis Presley, you put feeling into every song you sing and this is no exception. Dear Elvis: You will be remembered for eternity. I listen to this song, and not once has it been with a dry eye. I love every song you have ever sung, and darling... i can't help falling in love with you |

| AFI – The Great Disappointment Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Does anyone think that this song might be about Davey’s dad. I don’t know a lot about his father’s death, except that he died when he was 3. Now when you’re three, you’re old enough to understand that somebody you’ve seen all your life is no longer there, but you can not understand the concept of death. And I don’t think his mom straight up said: “davey, your dad died”. (Does that make any sense?) There’s lots of lyrics in the song that make me think this is what it’s about. I think his mom told him when he was younger and realized his father wasn’t there that he had gone away for a while and would be back. You can’t possibly tell a young child his father had died. He was young enough to realize he was gone, not old enough to know he died. She was just waiting until Davey was older to tell him that his dad died. But Davey eventually discovered on his on, that his dad was in fact dead. “Oh how I smiled then, so near the cherished ones. I knew they would appear, saw not a single one.” He used to smile, thinking he’d be back. Little did he know, that he was gone. And ‘so near the cherished ones’, could mean that he was around him in spirit? “Oh how I smiled then, waiting so patiently”. Again, he kept waiting for his dad to come back. “While I waited, I was wasting away”. Again, the concept of him waiting for him to come back. “I can remember, when I first realized, dreams were the only place to see them”… (beautiful line!)… but he is referring to the time in his life where he discovered that his dad was never going to come back. Possibly when he got older and he realized the truth. “I never wanted this, always wanted to believe… Never wanted this, from the start I’ve been deceived”. After he discovers that his dad is in fact never coming back, he wishes he never did discover it. He always wanted to believe hew as coming back. He also realizes he has been deceived for a good chunk of his life, and that he was living a terrible lie. “inside a crumbling effigy” he is slowly wasting away, discovering the news his father is dead. “so dies all innocence, but you promised me” he is no longer that innocent child that doesn’t know his father is dead… also, his mom promised him when he was younger that his dad was coming back (she couldn’t tell him the truth). But he’s mad that she lied to him. ‘but YOU promised me he’d be back’ “hope was wasting away, faith was wasting away, I was wasting away”… so as he got older the hope that his father was coming back slowly was going away. And he was wasting away while constantly wishing he’d be back. When he discovered his dad was gone forever, it was simply ‘A Great Disappointment’ I hope that made some sense. I really do believe this song has something to do with it. I know I didn’t analyze all the lines and some of them may not have made sense, but I hope you get what I’m saying. AFI Forever ☺ |
