^^These lyrics are wrong. I'm not sure how to go abou fixing them, but here are the actual lyrics (and I know they are the actual lyrics because they are from Dia's blog...): You were unaware that diamonds came with debt. Ironic sure but that's the way it is, got my vows off the internet. You say, "Crying weakens my immune system." But don't forget that if you pray for me, I'll pray for you, and cash flow too, why not. I said, "If you pray for me, I'll pray for you, and cash flow too, why not?" It was a black wedding you could hear the organs, not the violins or the words the Pope was saying, was a black wedding, you could hear the organs but, no drunken snoring or real hallelujahs. Dumb people swore they saw the devil. While most prayed they wouldn't last a winter. It was a black wedding, throw those blessings all around. So, you're finally viewing this at 5 foot 6. It's not all "roses" like your momma said, we're not spoon fed anymore. So you gonna tell, all our kids I was an "accident," Ironic, true, but that's the way you act, when you're upset, so let's take this outside. We see our mirrors from outside. And he said, "We are only pride. We stay hidden all our lives." It was a black wedding you could hear the organs, not the violins or the words the Pope was saying, was a black wedding, you could hear the organs but, no drunken snoring or real hallelujahs. Dumb people swore they saw the devil. While most prayed they wouldn't last a winter. It was a black wedding, throw those blessings all around. What else is there to know when your bible's here? What else is there to know when your bible's here? There are no lies to find when the page is bare. What else is there to know when your tax is shared? Outside. We see our mirrors from outside. And he said, "We are only pride. We stay hidden all our lives." It was a black wedding you could hear the organs play.....words the Pope was saying. Was a black wedding you could hear the organs not, no drunken snoring or real Hallelujahs. The Grave digger said, "It's this cathedral...." They drank holy water like animals at supper. It was a black wedding, throw those blessings all around. (What else is there to know when your bible's here?) It was a black wedding, throw those blessing all around. (What else is there to know when your tax is shared?) It was a black wedding, throw those blessings all around. |

I don't think this song has anything to do with vampires... I think it is more about loss of innocence. The paperdoll world is childhood, childhood gets spoiled by things, represented by the sunburn. I also thinks its a lot about the world in general and the world's loss of innocence. How the world is so messed up but we can remake it with love, and remembering that innocnece instead of killing her: ie the Earth. And then at the end again, shows that idea of a child-like innocence, I could be anything wonderful. Children are told that thay can be anything they dream of. I love that it seems to combine ideas so that its about two things at once. The loss of innocence as we become adults and the loss of the world's innocence i generaland how we can try to stop it. |

I think this song is about a guy she used to date/wanted to date, but maybe he broke it off or they couldn't be together for some reason. She's at this club, filled with people, because she knows he's going to be there and she wants him to see her. She's putting on an act like she doesn't care about him anymore. Its almost like she's trying to convince herself as much as him: "Never mind a heart that's broken right." He heart is broken over the whole situation and she really wants to be with him but is putting on this act like it doesn't matter. She sees him with this other girl and that he's buying her drinks and they're together. And she keeps wondering what she's doing there because seeing him is like torture. As she's watching this she's thinking about leaving, but as she egdes towards the door she changes her mind, she's "not done pretending yet" that maybe their relationship can work out. I'm not sure about the "empty space and rocking numbers part" but it might be either the emptiness inside of her, or the empty spaces of the club that are slowly being filled by people, or maybe that she's looking for an empty space to breath for a moment, maybe as she reaches for the banister to steady herself. The "rocking numbers" is probably the loud music, though I'm not sure. Then at the end of the song, maybe after she's stood back and had time to think she realizes that it stupid for her to be there because she can't give him anymore of herself and if he won't take it than he's not worth it. I could be majorly wrong, but thats the basic gist of what I get from the song. |
