| Ray LaMontagne – Old Before Your Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song is pretty much perfect and probably my favorite of all Ray's tunes. I think its about growing up. Life's hard when you're young and starting out. You've got struggles with finding work, losing and gaining friends, and feeling like you've got to accomplish something big to make something out of life. Seems like he is talking to all these folks who never did what they wanted in life, and he thinks its sad. Towards the end of the song, he decides its worth at least attempting to do what he loves, even if its just turns into another failure. And he doesn't seem to even care if it is b/c he doesn't want to "spend his life building walls". There are a lot of messages going on in this song, but that's my take on it. Do what matters to you and stop worrying so much about failure. My favorite lyric in the song is "it's not living if what you're doing feels like dying". |

| The Rolling Stones – Wild Horses Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Sounds like a breakup song to me. sounds like he possibly he cheated on her or broke up with her for a period. and now she' recriprocated.... but he's not bitter and just wants her back. I think the phrase lets do some living after we die is him accepting that its finally over and he's not getting her back for whatever reason. maybe she did something he can't forgive her for but he still feels like wild horses couldnt drag him away from her. awesome song with even more amazing lyrics. | |
| The Rolling Stones – You Can't Always Get What You Want Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It sounds like Mick isn't able to get the girl at the reception, she's with some other man. it sounds like this girl has some kind of drug problem. she's "meeting her connection", and he seems to be scoring drugs for her from Mr. Jimmy, or so it sounds like to me. then at the end he talks about how this chick is deceptive and that guy shes with is who he used to want to be. so he doesnt get what he wants (the girl) but he gets what he needs (not some drug abusing deceptive bitch). only my opinion. i have no idea about the protesting part of the song, maybe him complaining or something.... | |

This song is about breaking up with someone b/c he's young and need to discover who you he is in the first part. It then goes into that "oh no, what did i do" phase after the relationship ends", where he says "Why am I throwing away the best thing I found". Then he's genuinely distraught and miserable "leaves are blowing wind through the trees, i got no use knowing with time it will ease". think its about breaking it off with someone and coming to grips with it. I lvoe the lyrics and how he represents the different seasons that are passing such as (summertime harbour & sea, falltime leaves blowing, winter pale winter sun, etc.) i feel by the end he is OK, he knows who he is b/c of it and he knows they'll finally be OK even though its over. Awesome song. My favourite, been through it. |

| José González – Cycling Trivialities Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| \I think he's saying that money and our quest for fame, recognition, etc. is not what we should be focusing on, and he's sad about that b/c its trivial in the grand scheme of things. Life and death happen, and he thinks most of us aren't focusing on the right aspects of life. We should focus on important things them instead of "chasing dreams" to achieve status. Because our status won't mean shit in 100 years. He doesn't really say, but for me it says focus on your family, friends, and enjoy your life b/c its too short to worry and care about petty things. When we die, we'll remember the major things we had, not the "cycling trivialities". This is my favorite of Jose's songs, it makes me feel alive when I hear it. | |
| Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is about Phil and his wife's divorce which I guess he has alluded to in interviews. I am thinking that Phil's wife is sleeping with a married man or maybe a single man...who knows?. I am guessing Phil catches them in the act or somehow finds out this is going on. Phil is obviously pissed off at this dude. I think its a friend of his wife's he has met on some various occasion so he's met him, however this dude doesn't pay much attention to Phil or even remember him. I am thinking Phil's moment is him taking revenge on this guy. This could be numerous things such as beating his a**, telling his wife/gf....I think this song is about Phil finally confronting this guy about it. I think this guy tries to smile and deny it. Phil obviously doesnt believe him and then kicks his A**!!! That or he sleeps with his wife to get back at him! I think this song is awesome, it is a great song about revenge or conspiring to get revenge. Phil can feel his anger taking over tonight. | |

well im going to take a different approach. i think its about being with someone who he's broken up with and gotten back together with. he's had really good times and really bad times throughout with this person. He loves her but is afraid of being hurt again. Then he realizes that he's learned so much about them and himself thru all this pain. i love how he swtiches up love taught me to lie and love taught me to cry at the very end. i think he's basically saying that its better to love than to never know or never grow and constantly run away bc he's scared he might lose. so my guess is he goes for it or at least he's feeling he should go for it as he's writing this. i think it could be a million things, thats just how i like to interpret it. basically about being hurt by love and getting the courage to love someone again. |
