I think the song is pretty self-explanatory. But I think that both Molko and the person that he is addressing this song to are in love with the idea of being in love, but not with eachother, but Molko would like to be in his/her dreams "I wanna be your movie". Fairly sad song, great way to end out the album. Feels like the ending to Meds with the Running Up That Hill cover, being nice and slow and about impossible love. |

It's about press coverage, and how the press that a crime conjures often outweighs the sheer grotesque nature of the crime, and how people would do things for "good television." Which fits the video, since they turn a bank robbery into a publicity stunt that gets them an unnamed award. |

It almost seems like the speaker is a sailor on the sea of human emotion. This song popped into my head during an IBO English exam when the extract was about a ship being pounded by a storm. The distorted guitar sections almost remind me of a torrent of rain, followed by a lull in the storm, in which the verses are contained. |

Interesting story. Just a little aside, though - Shaun is South African, not English. |

There's just so much emotion in Brian's voice when he sings this that it doesn't feel like the lyrics mean anything anymore. It's...sublime. |

It seems that the lovely bubble that we've lived in as a couple has now popped and we see the true cruel reality as it is including one burning question: Was it love? |

This song is from the album Meds (2006). From the way that Placebo usually sings about sex and drugs, I think that the Implicit Lazarus Phenomenon is paralleled to Drug Rehabilitation. Sure you're alive again, but you're bored as hell because there are no more trips, no more moments of ecstasy, no bags of golden brown, just life. |

Placebo songs are generally more sexual and love oriented as compared to historic oriented. It is very far fetched, but a good theory nevertheless. It's just a bit out on a limb. |

This is a stunning example of Amy Lee's solo work. Her recital of this piece captures the emotion felt by Sally more accurately in my opinion than the recital by Catherine O'Hara as heard in the original Nightmare Before Christmas.
Amy's voice is more somber and minor-toned, which gives it this Burton quality that captures the emotion better. |

| Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics

The speaker is wondering if the deceased girl ever loved him or even mentioned him in her personal thoughts and feelings: her diary. He searches through the diary in order to find some mention of him for closure, but he changes himself in the process into a vain individual for only thinking of himself in her death (What have I become?). |

"Them’s the breaks,
For we designer fakes,"
I think that this part of the lyrics is inaccurate. I think what it actually says is something along the lines of
"Them's the brakes,
before we design our fates,"
It seems to fit more along with the song, and unless if otherwise found to be inaccurate, I stick with this lyric.
Tell me what you think. |

Yeah, I think you guys may be investing too much into the face value of Uncle Tom, and not what it means to be an Uncle Tom. To be an Uncle Tom means to please the people you know so that you don't lose what you have. |

Yet again, the acoustics of the drums summon the feeling of dull rimshots and kick beats that are found in most rap songs; the only parts of the song that you can hear from a certain distance. This for me brings up an idea of an urban landscape, complete with drug dealers and the like. |

I find the acoustic qualities of the song very capable of creating their own image. The guitar with sustain sounds like a siren echoing off an empty street, which seems to speak quite a bit, even without the lyrics. |

This is actually very fitting for Amy. If any of you have seen the "Evanescence Unleashed" feature in the "Anywhere but Home" DVD, you would know that she's a total goofball in real life. |

"and though I may have lost my way
all paths lead straight to you"
I find this line interesting, because in this song, her sister is kind of viewed as being "with death", if that makes any sense.
This seems to be a reference to a well-accepted idea that the only thing after life is death, which makes the line fit that mentality of "all paths that I take in life will lead to death", where her little sister "is".
I think that makes sense. |
