| Panic! at the Disco – Mad As Rabbits Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Paul Cates is a Faith Christian Minsister who runs schools that use a different teaching methods - it runs on the belief that everyone - child and adult - is a special creation with unique God-given talents, abilities and gifts. See www.faithchristianmin.org. The dog called Bambi is a reference to a case of animal cruelty where a man tied his pet dog (called Bambi) to a tree and left it there - where it passed out...the press went crazy and it raised a lot of discussion as to why the value of an animals life is so different to the value of human life - See www.hartfordadvocate.com Ryan commented that the repeat message (along with relationships and change etc) in this album was that of accepting that the world is a bad place but making the best of it anyway (as seen in the lyrics in Northern Downpour - i know the worlds a broken bone - but melt your headaches call it home). "He took the days for pageants" - he saw everyday as a procession or an act he had to put on. "And became as mad as rabbits" definate reference to "mad as a hatter"- people who live for the media or for the attention end up nuts because they lose sight of who they really are and what is really important to them. "With bushels of bad habbits" - all the lies, falsity, drugs, behaviour that goes along with fame "Who could ask for more..." - this is what everyone wants these days; fame and fortune - but take a look at everyone who has it - they're not really happy!! I feel this song is about religion/politics/art not really being a solution or an honest approach to fixing the world but instead a circus where people sell out to media and money and everything ends up being dishonest anyway. This song took a while to make sense - and the whole album took a while to grow on me, but i now think it is beautiful and certain songs make me feel really joyous. I say Kudos to the boys for daring to take a chance and if people like it and feel it then that is great - those who dont, dont have to listen to it :) |

They wrote this song purely to perform live!!! It was the heaviest song on the album and was written to get people to dance - that is where the title comes from!!! The lyrics seem to continue on from "She had the world" and he is talking about the girl who had him but who he didnt want to be with. "Couldnt let me go" The "people in between" are people in between relationships who are lost and "just cant get a hold of it" the relationship being over or why it ended etc -so they dedicate this song to them. The chorus - "The greatest thing" could be the breakup - so many people dont realise that it was for the better until a long time afterwards. He is saying that they will sing positivity for them. I think the walking part is about him walking out on the relationship and how he will toast that decision until he finds someone less pathetic - a better blend of person that matches him better and then he will drink to them! |

| Panic! at the Disco – She Had The World Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it is all sung from the one perspective. Girl who had everything going for her, and had him but couldnt keep him. He is saying that he wont just give himself to anyone - he needs more than just a pretty face or someone who loves him. Her eyes are like the sky because they are empty / vast he doesnt see any depth to them. She obviously doesnt understand him and thinks that by showing love with kisses all the time would make it okay. He is saying that she would be able to love him, but he wouldnt let her because he is more complicated than that and needs more than what she was offering. By not being with her he has made her more famous (more interesting) by default. |

No metaphors guys - although it makes a nice story. The guys say that the song was written as a "fairy tale" in their backyard in summer as the sun was setting. They thought it would be fun to write a song about the sun and moon falling in love (really). The moon is always in the sky, so the sun will eventually leave her alone - even in the middle of summer. Is is nice allegory anyway and it makes a cute love song :) This is my favourite song on the album!!! Band has said they used Alice in Wonderland (obviously) and other fairy tales as their inspiration. |

| Panic! at the Disco – That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it is 2 different storys. First part is about a girl and things that she said about him that werent true "So it seems I'm someone I've never met". The second part is about his dad and the struggle he had with him leaving college and wanting to go out into the world and give the band a shot - "I want to go where everyone goes...". "I never said Id leave the city..." this is him arguing that he wasnt leaving everything behind and his family and friends were still important to him. The "Falling Out" is a reference to his dad not being happy with his choices. Could also be FOB reference. Things have changed, and with that is negative outcomes (ie: girls wanting to be with him for being famous not who he really is and lying about things to get media attention and also the negative aspect of his relationship being harder with his dad because he was doing what he wanted, rather than what was expected of him) so he is saying that even though things have changed (and not only for the better) he is okay and he is getting there.... I wonder who the green gentleman is - Brendon thanks him on the album?!?! Tongue in cheek - that green gentleman could be a reference to pot - being a muse for their new album! |

| Panic! at the Disco – From A Mountain In The Middle Of The Cabins Lyrics | 17 years ago |

LOVE this song!! "Halo" means she's innocent "Feathers everywhere" could mean he has thrown stuff around in a rage. "Rusted smile" means she doesnt smile much anymore. She knows he is better than this. "Go spin.." could be that they keep going in circles around the problem and keep arguing rather than saying meaningful things they threaten each other. "If your going then go" The "kite" could be a reference to "high as a kite" which means that the drugs are in fact strangling their love. Fall (coldness) comes early and summer (warmth) leaves with him taking off. "Picket Fence" is a reference to her trying to make a perfect life and he just uses it to push off from. "All your wishes.." means that you cant put your hopes or dreams in someone who is an addict or destructive - they will only hurt you. I think it is just a little story Ryan wrote - i dont think it is about anyone in particular!! |

| Panic! at the Disco – Nine In The Afternoon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is about the band returning to the place they created their first album and reconnecting with the feelings they associate with their home town. The "nine in the afternoon" came from them being locked in a room creating and not keeping track of time. One of them allegedly said the time was "9 in the afternoon" instead of evening and they thought it was funny. Eyes the size of moon - could be a reference to drugs or it could be similar to the phrase "My eyes are hanging out of my head" which means you are tired. The song to me seems as though it is about the band getting back to their roots and realising that they arent so special or unique at home - they can go back to being semi normal and just have fun together like they used to - before it became a business. They can do that at home - so they do! The guys returned home after scrapping their first attempt at a follow up album and realised that by getting back to their roots they were able to create more freely. Most of the album was appparently written in one of their backyards....not in a studio or on a tour bus like they thought it would be. |
