And my interpretation of some of the meaning, assuming this is about a guy and girl's relationship, apologies for any vulgarity. The title, "A Classic Case of Transference", is referring to the girl's tendency to transfer blame onto anyone who will listen to her and her problems. "ran your dirty mouth, spouting out epitomes of nastiness" is probably alluding to someone who gossips and talks trash, creating problems. She "projects onto anyone that listens", either intentionally accusing someone of having the same problems she has, or unintentionally seeing herself and her flaws in other people. In most cases like this, a person projects on the people closest and most willing to give them a chance, eventually pushing everyone away. "So get me off, then get off me, I've had enough of you... I don't know who you think that you are you've turned into a whore We can take this to the floor again I know that you're spent, but we're not finished yet" Here, the girl has probably cheated without remorse. So, nearing the end of the relationship, he turns to use her like she used him, sexually because she seems to take sleeping around so lightly. So rather than blocking her out of his life, he continues to fuck with her but on his terms, rather than making love and being respectful like in a healthy relationship. In cheating and being a drama whore, she's basically reduced herself to a disposable pleasure hole in his eyes. "If I could say one thing I'd probably have a conniption fit" Have you ever met someone who won't let you have a word in edgewise? Especially while arguing? That's what I imagine in these lines. He's saying, if you'd just give me a chance to speak I'd probably have a conniption fit, possibly because he has so much to say and can't calm down and explain it in a linear, understandable fashion. So that's it for me, I feel that the rest of the song is pretty self-explanatory. Great song, I think there are lots of people who can relate to a similar scenario. |

| Oh and, little things in the song change with each repetition. Such as in the beginning how it's just "Isn't much" and "I only want" is sometimes "All they want's" and so on. I felt it wasn't important to write out EVERY small change in the verses they make, but I felt it was important to note they do in fact change, so all the different interpretations of some parts are for a reason. | |

I finally arrived at these lyrics, which I'm quite satisfied with. They make sense, and stay consistent with what we all seem to agree is the general meaning of the song. Now adobe slats can be taken a couple ways, meaning roofing or adobe colored blinds and of course that's Avey in parentheses, even though it's Panda Bear's lyrics repeated, I felt like his background vocals are an integral part of the song, albeit not initially obvious to some. I know I didn't notice them at first ._. The way he sings his part is just fantastic. |

| This CD is indeed amazing. It reminds me very much of Feels, atleast in attitude. Strawberry Jam when it comes to style of music. And occasionally a little of the older stuff surfaces. It's like the culmination of all their work is this CD. Though that's not to say this is their best =x that's highly subjective, and they're still together so we will of course be getting more. | |

| This song IS a reference to house of leaves. Though I have not finished it yet... This song reminds me very much of the book. The song is written to sound similar to the book it seems, with the echoing voices, the long absences of lyrics between the verses also creates a sense of emptiness,then of co[]rse the lyri[]s themsel[]es. Now the lyrics have nothing to do with The Navidson Record and everything to do with Truant. So as not to ruin the book for those hopefuls who found out about it because of this song, like I did, those of you who would like to hear my opinion of why it's Truant, message me on AIM or email me. Oh and to everyone worrying about whether the lyrics are right or not, it really doesn't matter. In essence, they're right, they may add in a couple of extra words to complete the sentences but other than that, they are correct. Happy listening all~ | |
