Skankin' Pickle – My Hair Lyrics 15 years ago
It should be noted - for anyone else wanting to figure out the "secret" lyric - that the original title of this song on SP's demo tape was "My Hair (Look Like Dahn)".

Skankin' Pickle – Pass You By Lyrics 15 years ago
The parts in parentheses are obviously the words I can't decipher due to Mike Mattingly's eccentric vocal delivery. Everything else I'm 98% certain about.

As far as meaning goes, this is obviously written about audience members who stand still at Skankin' Pickle show, as if such people existed!

I'm pretty certain the lyric isn't "look like yarn", but I can't figure out what it is, either.

The lyric is "don't act suspicious 'cause I think we got 'em fooled so far".

Generic love song, but still great to dance to.

Steve has introduced this song saying it's about his dog...that makes the "in the slow dance we embraced" part sort of creepy...

'Three on a match', as I just learned last night, is an old superstition from WWI: it was said that if three soldiers lit their cigarettes with one match, one of them would die. So, obviously, it's considered to be bad luck to do so.

"Eyes melt, skin explodes, everybody's dead" is actually a line from 'Repo Man'...the Bats tend to reference the movie a lot.

Nobody's commented on this song?! This is CPD's finest song, THE anthem for sad drunks everywhere. It's a sad song, yes, but I'll be damned if you can't toast a drink to it.

Cherry Poppin Daddies – Here Comes The Snake Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not so sure that this song is about that, though...although CPD is sometimes known for humorously raunchy songs, it doesn't fit in with the theme of the album it's on ('Kids on the Street', I mean).

The first part, maybe, but the second part seems a bit too out there to refer to genitalia.

Cherry Poppin Daddies – Skyline Drive Lyrics 17 years ago
Man, I'm so terrible at analyzing songs...

I'm guessing this song is about people's desensitization of violence, of death? And/or society's dwindling compassion towards their fellow man?

Cherry Poppin Daddies – The Lifeboat Mutiny Lyrics 17 years ago
A pretty straightforward song about a suicidal person....I'm sure we've all felt the way this song describes every now and then.

The fact that the meloncholy sound of the song is contrasted by cheery trumpet fanfares is one of the reasons why CPD are musical geniuses...

Cherry Poppin Daddies – Blood Orange Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
It's obviously about losing a friend to death (the second verse makes that explicitly clear).

This is one of the sadder songs the band has done, despite it's summery ska-y vibe. Rather touching and emotional, actually.

Cherry Poppin Daddies – Inertia Rhapsody Lyrics 17 years ago
Pretty straightforward, but keep in mind I'm mostly an idiot, so this is my interpretation: it's about two lovers whose relationship is in jeopardy because she's found out about some rather unsavory things the narrator has done in the past. However, he pleads with her: "just look around, look at the beauty that surrounds us...the past is the past. I accept you for who you are, no questions, can you do the same for me?"

Beautiful, beautiful song.

HOWEVER...does anybody know what Steve is singing in the background of the chorus?! I think I can hear "I'd sell myself under", but I can't decode the rest.

I pretty much agree with your analysis. This song really hits close to home with me; hands-down my favorite CPD song.
