You got it. When it is storming outside all we can do is watch the sky and wait for the bad weather to go away. He is comparing tough times we go through to the weather. All we can do is be patient and remember both are temporary and will soon change. All we can go is tough it out and "watch the sky" until it changes. |

Listening to the lyrics, I always thought this song was about depression or cancer. A lot of people with depression feel lonely (I'm lost at sea... they won't find me). With both of these conditions you have bad days (this is what he's referring to when he mentions the storms outside) and you have good days. He tells us that when you have bad days all you can do is tough it out (I will fight), because it is only temporary. All you can do is wait for it to go away (Live the life you're given with the storms outside), like the way we wait for storms to go away by watching the sky. Most importantly, Andrew tells us to be optimistic (Today was a good day). This is how I interpreted the song, though it may not be exactly what Andy was going for. |
