Dire Straits – Romeo And Juliet Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song! It's a brilliant dig Knopfler's taken at Holly Vincent for her (rumoured?) comment on TV - "Mark? I used to have a scene with him"...Somehow, I feel that's when Mark must have thought of how ridiculous that sounded..and decided that it was about as ridiculous as Juliet claiming that she used to "have a scene" with Romeo.

But leaving that aside, I have always imagined Romeo in this song to be some sort of jolly rascal, a street singer..who perhaps hides some pain deep within. And I have imagined Juliet to be someone who used to be with Romeo once, but dropped him for "better financial prospects"....And Romeo roams around her palace, and plays this song on the streets, and takes digs at Juliet in a jolly, subtle way...and each time he plays it, it pricks at Juliet's heart and conscience. God bless Romeo!!

John Denver – This Old Guitar Lyrics 17 years ago
Completely agree with storysongman...a beautiful snapshot of the man's life! And gr8 melody.

Just one minor glitch - the part below creates a disconnect:
"To serenade the stars that shine
From a sunny mountainside"

Wish he'd used "quiet mountainside" or something, rather than "sunny"
